Karma played a hand as did fate. 3 London clubs v 3 Lancashire clubs today, won one, drew one and lost one, it happens.
Is it the hype and adulation for Kane that has seemingly finally gone to his head. Piss poor today and against Chelsea. What has happened to Eriksen., he don't even look interested any more. Piss poor again today. Tripper needs to man up fast. He is no way near the grade at the moment. Piss poor again today. These player now need competition for their places. I'm expecting a few more results like this one, over the course of this season. Things could have been so much different.
Yet again we just jogged our way through that. Not enough urgency and lapses in concentration cost us. We could all see that coming. What was Dele's lack of goal celebration all about?
So far this season has reminded me a lot of Poch's first season: the players press for a bit, then ease off - and because they've eased off the other team gets back into the game. I'm not sure if this is an early season thing as players aren't match fit, or if it's intentional so the players don't run themselves into the ground by the 80th minute on the Wembley pitch, but either way it's self-inflicted. We certainly should've done something else with the subs, too: Winks was needed much earlier due to our stodgy buildup, and with Trippier being too conservative going forward and starting to make mistakes KWP was an option.
Awful, just awful by Spurs. Aside from Alderweireld and Vertonghen the rest of the team were poor. Too any safe and measured passes going backwards or sideways. Eriksen played in his shell again, Dele was too concerened in hitting the deck trying to win free kicks and Son was shocking. Out wide our two fullbacks are just too afraid and too limited to take players on, no directness and no penetration and Trippier should hand his head in shame with letting his runner go at the end. TBH even Kane needs to take a look at himeself, he should be murdering teams like this. Burnley defended well and played with real blood and sweat but they were there for the taking. Ive no doubt Spurs will improve but yet again we are chasing the leaders early doors. This next 4-5 days is critical. We need to get the deals finalised for Aurier and Foyth done sharpish and then make sure we sign at least one attacking player who can change games.
The two theories I've heard is he was annoyed at Dembele for getting in the way of his initial shot, or he was in a mood due to being clattered a couple of minutes earlier.
I hope it was something trivial as that. His lack of passion for the goal typically summed up our whole team performance. We'd usually go on to score two or three more but we just went into third gear from that moment on.
Sorry to criticise Pochettino but manager who win titles know how to see out games. Kane should have been off ...in the last 20 mins he did not hold the ball at all. Poor all round tbh. We will never win a title while we wait until late sept to get our act together. Do not usually get annoyed at the team but am seriously pissed off with the lack of EVERYTHING that made us a pleasure to watch over the last 2 years.
If this is to be believed,. some would say they are two fairly juvenile reasons for not celebrating a Spurs goal. Personally, I think he enjoyed his holiday in Barbados too much.
Unfair on Davies who had a decent game, was very direct and made some really good crosses. Unlike his counterpart on the right!!!
Truth is, without Walker & Rose we have lost a potent attacking threat - pace down the outside. Neither Davies nor Trippier has it.
Chav fans are gloating all over Twitter about how they "broke" us. Getting a better result against Burnley than they did is an example of us being "broken" is it?
We lack real pace and struggle to create when Eriksen has an off day. Only JV, Toby and Dembele can come out of that with their head held high. Lloris made one good save but once again his kicking was woeful. The full backs were poor and failure to take chances cost us big time, you could sense a Burnley equalizer coming and yet we failed to see out the game, poor all round.
The stattos are at it already, as they're already posting prospective tables based on the next 35 games playing out exactly like they did last season please log in to view this image ...ignoring the obvious flaw that there is no like-for-like comparison with last season until the 17 clubs in last season's Premier League get their matches with Brighton, Huddersfield and Newcastle out of the way.
With Rose on the long term injury list (and with no guarantee that he'll be the same player as before), City should have been made to do without Walker for another season. The points lost tally (solely because we miss those two players) will get greater. We had missed then when they won't named in the starting line-up last season and the season before that. It was a strange decision the gave way a player with Walker's capability, at a time like this.
Our lack of pace is frankly frightening. Loads of the ball but all of it in the final third is played with backs to goal, simply because no-one has the legs to play off the shoulder or to turn their man and leave them for dead. When I look at our immediate rivals...United have Mickey Tarzan, Rashford, Martial, Lingard - all of them have serious afterburners. Watching the highlights of the Pool game and I hate to say it but Salah and Mane will humiliate Davies and Trippier and make our own attackers look pedestrian. Chelsea have Hazard and Willian, City have Sane, Sterling and Jesus plus monstrous pace down their flanks thanks to their shiny new full backs. Bringing in Aurier will go a great way towards helping, but I do feel that the supposed £42m spent on Sanchez would've been better invested going for a top quality attacking player with some serious pace. The extra 5 yards of the Wembley pitch would be great if we had Bale and Lennon torturing the opposition by running onto balls over the top, but as it is all the extra space is doing is giving our opponents more breathing space to organise themselves at the back and catch us offside. Poor day in the office overall. Only Jan, Toby, Davies and INCREDIBLY Sissoko () can emerge from that with their heads held high. The next 4 days will define our season. I just worry that the players we're looking at (other than Aurier) are either answering the wrong questions, or questions that haven't been asked yet.
