Apparently, Kyle Walker posted a one word response to that picture........."Slim". I'm old enough to have no real idea what that's supposed to mean. Does it mean we're lacking in numbers? Maybe someone should respond to him with pictures of Mangala, Otamendi and Stones with the legend "Crap"?
Without jinxing it it looks like Aurier and Foyth are Spurs players now, just waiting for official announcements for them. Once announced thats 2 or the 3 poch said we would be signing so it looks like one more to come in. As much as i want us to sign Barkley, we need an attacker who can come in now and hit the ground running. Draxler pretty please........
Our need is for players that can come in and offer something this season. He's young and has little experience and is costing Lyon £15m. Spending £12m on Foyth is probably enough on long-term prospects this summer. Spending £27m, the likely cost of a Barkley or Damerai Gray on 2 prospects is a no-no for me when funds are tight and we have such a talented Academy.
If only there was a player who was widely tipped for a move to Barca, only for the move to go nowhere and leave him in limbo. Oh wait... please log in to view this image
Somebody should tell DoF Danny Rose that our approach to transfers this summer has been much better than Barca's...
There are plenty of risks, no question. But on his day he is easily one of the best full backs in the world, superior to Pereira in every department and one of the few RB's out there who I am actually confident would be an upgrade on what Walker offered. Also brings bags of CL experience to the show - something sorely lacking throughout our squad. I'd like to think that until now, he has been at a recently fabricated club with zero history, surrounded by mercenaries with little to no respect for anything other than their enormous pay cheque at the end of the month, with an embarrassing turnover of managerial and coaching staff. Spurs are perhaps the exact opposite of that set up, with a squad of players who - as our benevolent DOF Rose reminded us - could easily earn more elsewhere yet choose to stay to be a part of a unique project. We have enviable stability both in the dug-out and up in the ivory towers, and numerous players/coaches/ club ambassadors who are excellent role models. And let's not forget that Aurier was arrested for exactly the same crime as one of those ambassadors; although Ledley was 28 years old at the time (not 23), club captain and should've known better. I'd like to think that at a club like Spurs and with Poch's fatherly arm around his shoulder, the stability and consistency will encourage him to settle down and grow up. For £23m in today's market, definitely worth a flutter.
Everyone slating Aurier for a mistake but didn't seem too bothered when our very own Ledley King got arrested. Sorry CK, I got ahead of myself and didn't see your comment about Ledley King.
