Absolutely. Same with phelan no one could have got a tune out of that fifty million midfield quartet. He did a brilliant job of it and he left when he did knowing he did a great job with his reputation intact. Managing in the PL again isn't he?
Listening to Mr Slutskys interview after Friday nights game Burnsey asked him how many forwards would he like to bring in and his answer was only one main striker but another who can play behind may be In the advanced midfield/ striker role so I was thinking is that what Irvine is lined up for because I have read somewhere he can play midfield and up top. I also think he is a decent header which helps
Discounting loan players in and out Players Sold -----------------------------------------------Players Bought (so far) Maguire ---------------------------------------------------- Campbell Huddlestone ----------------------------------------------- Stewart Jakupovic -------------------------------------------------- Mazuch Elmohamady ---------------------------------------------- Larson Robertson -------------------------------------------------- Kingsley Clucas ------------------------------------------------------ Toral Maloney Davies Tymon Considering we were always going to lose most of our big name players after relegation I don't think this transfer window is the disaster some try to paint it. A few more decent players in and we'll be challenging for promotion.
I'm impressed with the players we've brought in. Some very good experience on the cheap and some more up and comers to repeat the money train once again. Still think we need another full back, a quality centre half, a winger and 3 or 4 strikers.
Naive in my view. A promotion challenge would be down to Slutsky's quality as a manager as we look to be removing a lot of proven players with youth and potential. Potential isn't guaranteed, nor is it immediate quality. We also don't even own some of this potential ourselves but that's a different matter. We need more proven players on our books to get promoted, unless Slutsky is a Russian wizard.
How can ignore all the loans we've lost? You might as well arbitrarily ignore all players with a 'u' in their name as well.
Season long loans end at the end of the season. Did you think they were all going to stay? I also haven't included Hector or Aina or the two other Chelsea loans being mooted or the likelihood of Success or another striker on loan.
We certainly aren't there yet but we are getting there. Abel getting injured has put a massive dent in our plans. I'll get slated but if Ehab has sole tom for two million and 25 grand off the wage bill and brought in Toral and Irvine for the same money or less it's great business.
A confident Diomande and a fit Campbell plus Bowen knocking them in might just keep us in the running until Abel is back
Sorry but no way.. Dio is not going to get 20+ goals a season at this level, he just isnt. The goal against Bolton was put on a plate for him by Grosicki, it wasnt exactly a tap in but he hardly had to work for it. Also im not sure Campbell would get the 20+ goals you need to get around the top 6. Hopefully whoever we bring in over the next few days is capable of replacing Abels goals.
And so we carry on with the rubbishing. He got in front of his man, he held his man off and finished it with his wrong foot p. Wtf do people want?? We got promoted under Brucey first time and our top scorer got about ten didn't they
I'm not going to rubbish him, I like him Neither am I going to think about being promoted, because I don't think we will be
