He told me he's got a £2m release clause and they think we've met it.

 

Know that Sheff Utd are sniffing around Irvine, been on their boards for a while.

 

I think Hull City are thought of as a Premier League club because of the last ten years so we will be attractive to players unless they are chased by an actual Premier League club

Despite all the hatred towards the allams, and most of it is justified, you can't deny they quality of the players coming in this season. Most are better than the ones that have gone, and we have a good young team. We all know we still need a few more quality bodies in but THIS team has potential and i would rather be watching these than a team full of players looking for a last payday.

 

Minor point about Irvine , wasn't Clough the manager at Sheffield utd when we went in for Harry,

 

I don't think it's down to Ehab - except the money - and it must be down to Slutsky and the people around him
I was thinking that whoever replaced Silva would be a disappointment but Slutsky has good experience, seems to know what he's doing and is a lovely guy. I bet the players would do all they can for him.

Not sure I agree with that, Robertson, Clucas, Maguire, Huddlestone... Have we really brought in better? Aina and Hector look good but they arnt our players. We've not seen enough of Toral or Kingsley to know how good they are.

I agree there's the making of a good championship team there but nothing more. We need another 4-5 quality players brought in to have any hopes of promotion this season.

I did say most, Hector looks almost as good as Harry although only a loanee, Clucas - Larsson is a far better player, Robertson - Kingsley is highly rated, Hudds never really did that much did he. How many games did he boss? bet you could count them on one hand or possibly one finger.

 

Who appointed Slutsky and the new backroom staff we now have ? Thinking the head of recruitment, Lee Darnburgh ? Doing a good job apparently .
