That was more an observation, saying he and Meyler dominated the midfield was more meant as a compliment. Was just trying to raise a point that if he plays like that every week, Clucas wouldn't be that great a miss. It does give Slutsky a headache thought with the new signings, it's nice to have some genuine competition in one area of the pitch!
The worlds top players can't do everything 100% right all the time. For the fee, Diomande was absolutely excellent last night. No doubt about it.
While I agree Dio had a decent game .. as did the rest of the team .. for me there are times yet again that his first touch takes him into a tackle .. the other poster mentioned about the 'shot' he ballooned over .. it seems he gets over excited .. if he calmed that side down and learns to control the ball we would have a decent played on our hands
Anybody who saw, should the Meyler tackle early have been a red card? Definite, borderline, or not at all?
I read Parkinson's comments, over the top comments from a manger that was trying to find crumbs of comfort from his team abject performance. With Grosicki the more I see him, the more I feel that is just his character, against Wolves when Dawson scored from his corner he just trotted back to the centre circle. He's a strange character, as Leo said in his post march interview, depends on the day he turns up or not. I think it will come down to money, if Enob gets an offer £10m+ he will go, if not he will stay. Frankly he is so hit and miss, if he does go to an EPL team, he will spend more time on the bench than starting, if I was him I would stay and get regular football at his age.
I honestly thought the ref got the red out. Meyler pleaded his case and the ref thought about it for an age then produced a yellow.
A reporter or bloggers marks on his Bolton team. He actually gives he captain a big fat ZERO.... http://www.bolton.vitalfootball.co.uk/sitepage.asp?a=502439
Anyone who doubted Dio's performance last nigh wants locking up. 100% effort from him. A really really good goal, made 2 more, so what he ballooned one over, was it that bad a miss. His touch is good 6 and a half times out of 10, last night more than and in this league thats good enough. Beggars cannot be choosers sometimes and as I said earlier Bolton would take him in a heartbeat..
He only ever comes on as a sub. When started he gets up to match pace right away and has seldom been poor.
We must have watched a different Dio last night. He seldom controls the ball when he receives it. It just sort of bounces off him and he aims to collect it the second time. At one point, the ball was passed to him along the ground and it bounced off him into the air above his head. I don't even know how he managed it. When he was running with it, he was doing so with the ball underneath him so he kept running ahead and having to stop and bring it back under control. I'm not a Dio hater at all but he's really not good enough. Plenty of people try hard (and he did last night) but it doesn't make them a footballer. I might be a little harsh with this but, at times, last night, his performance was comical.
I beg to differ .. Any footballer is taught from any early age about the concept of bringing a ball under control .. it seems that concept bypassed Dio.. I admire his endeavour but I'm sorry I disagree with you quote 'he has seldom been poor' perhaps we have different concepts of the definition of poor
Bit harsh zero, should at least get a 1 for running about a bit, and having their best effort on goal which Greesy saved.
