I'd try that. I would actually pair Gabby with Long in that case. Two strikers running all over the pace, they'd bring panic to most of the defences (both handy in the air also) The positive thing is that they can both also go wide as well as central. Would probably work better with Tadić as no.10 than Boufal, frustrating as he is he's still a more reliable player and can pick a pass
I'd like to try Gabbi and Long but I would not leave Davis out of the team, my managerial experience (village 3rd team for one year before getting sacked) dictates that his name would be first on the team sheet every week. P.S. See Everton are considering a loan move for Costa, now that would make sense for us.
Tadic left, Mane right used to work well. Redmonds not Mane, but if he can play as well on the right as the left? Then maybe worth a shot just to get Tadic in his best position. Not sure how Boufal fits into that, but I'm not sure you can play Tadic and Boufal in the same team.
Forster Cedric Stephens Hoedt Bertrand Lemina Romeu Davis Redmond Austin Gabbi Won't happen, but you never know.
Yeah, though he played on the left with Norwich at times, as well. Was one of the things I always found more than a little puzzling with Puel: we were a team that was as dependent on crosses as any in the Premier League, yet he insisted on inverting his wingers.
Full backs would be the main source, so we'd have the delight of Cedrics crossing which can only be compared to a trebecheut flinging dead bodies over city walls. JWP would also be able to go out wide and whip some good crosses in for us.
First away game to a newly promoted team who's fans will be buzzing? Think a point would do. Playing the newly promoted teams early can be tricky.
In what way were we dependent on crosses? I'm struggling to remember us scoring from one last season.
Because we attempted more crosses than any other team in the Premier League by a large margin. That you -- and I -- struggle to remember us scoring from one is a good indication of how poor a strategy it was, there's no question there.
A trebuchet (genuinely) features in my dream funeral plan where I'm fired into the Solent. Not legal, sadly. Along these lines: Vin
If anyone's expecting rather than hoping for a 2-0 away against a side newly promoted and utterly fired up after a couple of good wins then it will, indeed, be a long season. Vin
