First game I've seen this time. I went with trepedation. I left feeling happy and quite positive! Anyway a few thoughts. - I love watching Bowen playing, he can turn on a six pence, he's grown about 2 foot and bulked out. We have a player there. One I have been longing for from our youth system since Deano. He needs a pay rise! Like a young Sheringham. - Aina is quick, if not very laid back. - I like Hector suitable replacement for Harry. - Larson ran the show, harried and chased and very good on the ball. - Bolton are crap. - Madine is a thug. - We all love Sluts!
Happy with that tonight but Bolton were very bad. I was expecting a rendition of Mauled by the Tigers. Actually thought considering the score the crowd were fairly quiet most of the time. Probably because we are just not used to winning like this, had the stuffing knocked out of us too many times lately. Enjoying our more attacking play at the moment. Everyone is of the same mindset though wondering what price tag Ehab will stick on Grosicki and Bowen. Roll on the next match.
Whatever happens regarding ownership of the club amidst all the rumours. I hope Slutsky is given the time and support to build a team. I think he has the potential to be our best ever manager. The fella has thoroughly impressed me so far. He doesn't know what players he has available from one week to the next. For a club that has had the churn of players we have and to get 7 points on the board already is pretty bloody good. He's media savvy already and I really like his supportiveness towards the players. He lives in the area and is only too willing to stop and take time out with fans.
We looked good with 3 at the back, glad we've got the players to carry this off again since Curtis and Harry left, particularly as is allows more cover for Dawson than with 4 at the back. It looked to free up Clark and Aina to commit more going forward, but when we had to defend, with the pace they both have, it soon becomes a back 5. Also gives Grosicki and Bowen more freedom from defensive duties allowing them to be more positive. Didn't see enough of the new lads to form much of an opinion but Toral looks like a real player. Sadly, despite his improved first half performance tonight Diomande is still, for me, not good enough. Even allowing for Campbell's return, we desperately need a decent goal scorer in quickly before all the other supermarkets close.
Not sure where you were sitting but it was a perfect tackle and he made a meal of it to make sure he got him booked. Have the rules changed this season as he didn't go off after his treatment on the field.
He made sure he stayed down long enough to get Meyler booked for nothing more than a strong 50 50 challenge
Played well first half the game was two slow second. Bolton were very poor and I think they will be fighting relegation come the end of the season. We can only beat who we are up against and tonight we did that Bowen very good much better than his last game against Wolves, Kamil was outstanding first half scoring and setting another two up, Scout's were in the crowd tonight so a bid may come in. We need signings which if good enough and we get some of the injured back then we could be around the top six come the end of the season. The caliber of signings is going to be so important
I like him too - lots of qualities. Funny recalling some of the posts on here, a couple of weeks in to his appointment. Stuff like: 'disappointed in Slutsky so far - especially in the interviews'.
I almost felt sorry for their keeper Howard , he was getting quite a bit of advice from the North Stand tonight
