The OS has confirmed that Benno could be off if the right deal comes in, and also that talks have started with Robbie Elliott and Newcastle.

I personally would like to see them both stay, Robbie has started the season well mainly because he knows that if he makes a mistake he'll be out of the team, as he's got Sullivan and Hamer breathing down his neck. Benno will score given the chances, I don't think his overall game is anywhere near good enough but still think he should be maintained as he will pop up with the odd goal. But as CP has stated he's over 30 and needs to be playing to secure a long term deal which we cannot and will not offer him.

If they do go does anyone expect that to make way for someone else to come in? Also the future of Simon Francis seems to have gone very quiet, do we expect him to leave?

Just beat me to it, g3org3 - a very frank and transparent interview from CP, I thought and a stance that gives a degree of latitude to both players.

Personally, I don't want to see either of them leave.

What did surprise me was the reference to Kelly Youga and his continuing fight to overcome injury. I'd say there's a clear expectation here that at some point, Kelly will be back to fitness and playing for us again.

Much as I want to see him back, I simply don't think it's going to happen, it's been too long.

But then again, look what happened to Cory Gibbs...

Tewks I often think Chrissy is vague rather than frank - to me it often seems he doesn't know quite what's going on...

Kelly Youga is my zero to hero CAFC player. I hated him when we were in the championship (and I really mean hate), but that 1st half season in Lge 1 he was superb! Completely changed my opinion of him so I would love to see him back in a Charlton shirt again. But I would be surprised if it did happen, as I doubt he could get back to the same level. Such a shame.

Guy's i'm with Sir Chris and the club all the way. If players don't see a long future with the club and commit, no matter who they are, let them go. The longer they stay then the more chance we have of losing a grip on the good morale and team ethics that the new regime have brought in. We had a guy at work last year who constantly said he was not happy and wanted to leave. Along the way kept harping on how he would be better off somewhere else and that we wouldn't be able to manage without him. Morale in our dept fell dramatically and to be honest I hated going in to work knowing that this clown was gonna be moaning the same old tune. Thankfully he left and morale has now returned. Guy's do you get my drift?

Get your drift but in Benson's case it seems to be the club which does not see him having a long-term future.

Sorry Kish, you're probably right but I've fallen into the trap of comparing what CP says to the garbage that Parkinson used to come out with and it seems to be more spontaneous and less spun.

Stu - Yassin has still not found a club.

KP, you're dead right about a moaner in the ranks, some days you just want to throttle them.

I'll be sad to see Benno go, because I genuinely think he'd have had a part to play at some point over the course of the season...

However, I’m pretty sure the gaffer has someone equally capable in the pipeline.

Re Elliott… It’s a shame to see one of our own depart. Although, my sadness is dampened down somewhat by the fact we have two bloody good keepers in Hamer and Sullivan waiting in the wings.

At the end of the day, if Elliott feels it’s the best thing for his career to move on, then good luck to the kid…!!

My main issue is that I feel like Elliot moving could kill his career, he wont play there and when Pardew is sacked he'll truly be in oblivion.

Benson is more painful in the fact that he will do very well somewhere else and he could do that for us, but sadly he may need an injury to do it.

    Very tough and sad

Sorry that I've only really drifted through the comments on this thread (and for my absence on here in recent weeks), but is it just me who believes Chris Powell seems to be trying his best to get teams bidding for Benson? So far, the only confirmed approach has been from Notts County which Benno himself turned down, yet he hasn't featured in the squad since Bournemouth (before we signed Euell), and it seems every press conference involves CP stating "We can't stop clubs coming in for him, they will be aware he can easily score goals in this league". Perhaps I'm being cynical, but I really do feel that either CP is trying to publicise the availability of Benson, or else he is just very poor at press conferences.

Robbie has made statement on twitter say he agreed to take a pay cut however they couldn't agree on the size of the cut(so it seems) and it's not a big money exercise. I feel like he wants to stay if he can due to pay cut, but naturally nobody would just give it up completely

That is odd. I know that Rob Elliot resigned a contract (the one he is currently on) at a reduced wage, as his first ever professional contract was a very high one. So I'm not quite sure how he could be "requesting Premier League wages" [as stated by Rich Cawley] whilst also agreeing to take a wage cut [Rob Elliots twitter].

Twitter is very open on this subject, good banter between our lads and Robbie. It's a sad situation, but understandable

WWOCB- we've disagreed on this on the past but your are right about this not making sense. His wage was already nominal with a higher appearance fee.. Do we honestly think our club is offering reduced terms to who CP deems his first choice gk?

I'm still inclined to believe a lot of what rob says is exaggerated. It's what I'm constantly being told. Say hi to woodman from me, #bell <ok>

What reason does Robbie have to lie? Those comments won't get him a wage rise or out of the club. Its pointless, the club haven't come out and said he's unreasonable, just couldn't agree, which seems to be the story. I may just be clutching at hope

Benno is deffo on his bike. Have a gander at the ‘Inside Info’ thread mate…

It's a little similar to the Jenkinson move Hell Bent. Everyone has/had their opinion on what's best for them, but ultimately the only person who can make the decision is the player himself...!!

Do you think the club will appreciate Robbie announcing "their" offer over twitter?

If he wasn't "charlton through and through", he would be torn to shreds by now.

You're right, however GK is different, you can truly end a career with the wrong move as a keeper. Strange comparison, but look at someone like Carlo Nash, arguably Scott Carson

Which tweet was that mate? Just looked at his timeline and there is nothing along those lines, he had a few laughs with fans and dismissed reports of wanting 8k per week but nothing announcing an offer from the club.

I've had good banter with the bloke, lets give him some credit. He truly loves this club, if he could stay he would. But at the end of the day whoever you are your life revolves around money. If I got a better offer for a job tomorrow I'd leave my current firm no questions asked. Lets cut him some slack here.

Must admit I was started to get taken away by the rumours such as he has been badly advised by his agent, but I'm taking step back and trying to be more realistic. If he wants to leave to play at a higher level, surely he should be given that chance?

If it turns out to the be the wrong decision then so be it, let him make that mistake. It's his life and career.
