Early days yet to make a proper judgement but anyone else feel Danny Graham may not be best suited to the Prem?

I have no doubt in his quality to date but I have seen nothing since he's been in a Swans shirt that fills me with confidence, apart from his work rate. And his finish against betis was Classy. (Maybe ive said it there and need to be patient)

He seems to lake a bit of pace and that cutting edge, another Scotland maybe? Unstoppable championship force but struggled when reached the prem?

I felt against Man City when he was presented with a chance towards the end of the game he didnt make Joe Hart work hard enough, anyone else agree that Borini would of buried that chance?! Borini's pace also gave us more of an outlet up front, and his link up play was also good. Graham hasnt been pacey enough and his link up is not so good.

Im not saying Danny wont come good, im still excited about watching him play but so far, not so good for me. Im sure im wrong, as I usually am about these things. <laugh>

You've answered yourself with your first 8 words: "Early days yet to make a proper judgement". We haven't got Borini, we've got Graham. Only time will tell but give the guy a chance.

Based solely on the one game, especially given the game it was we can't really say if any if our players are cut out for the premiership, let alone nee signings gelling with our tactics. Except Vorm who if we had only conceded 3 goals I'm sure would have got MOTM lol

Like any striker, Graham needs service and support to do his job properly. He got that at Watford, right now he isn't getting it from our players and set-up. I'm not carping, just stating a fact.

I have voiced my concern about this on other threads. No doubt things will get better as he beds into the team and develops an understanding with them. We have to realise, though, that we do have a striker who can score us goals but he does have to be provided with the ammunition.

To be blunt, if our midfield weaved less pretty patterns and looked to be more incisive going forward, Graham will thrive. And so will we.

This point has already been made a number of times in the media by pundits and ex-players alike so it is something that should be addressed. This is not to say that we just route-one the ball to him at every opportunity but we do have to support him and bring him more into the game. It is NOT his job to chase about like a headless chicken trying to make something out of nothing because he is not getting proper service. Remember Pintado?

the jury is still out on danny boy, I'm sure he will come good and not end up like Scotland but who knows the step up and the way we play may not be right for the lad, i hope not...

it's to early to say how he'll do, but for me, if your not getting any ball up front, what's wrong with coming back into midfield to look for it? against man city i don't remember him even having a touch of the ball in the first half, but he never dropped back looking to get involved either, hopefully we'll see his better side saturday.

He's got to get the ball first before he can put it in the net and that didn't happen at Man C, but Doc Love has a point, like Rooney, if you're not getting the ball, go looking for it.

    P-A-C-E.

On todays evidence, I am fearful that DG's lack of it is always going to be a problem. He needs a goal to gain confidence, obviously, but confidence isn't going to improve his acceleration. To be fair, I think this applies to a number of our players, and today even Sinclair looked a little "leggy". Early, early, days yet to be passing judgement but I do have a seed of concern as to whether DG will come good.

If he had as much pace as Dyer/Sinclair then he'd never have been at Watford for us to buy in the first place. Still he's not a slow player and I thought he did really well on occasion today. Still a little rusty and has to guess which position (right wing, left wing, striker, midfield, right back - he played them all today for a few minutes, probably trying to show us he's the new Alan Tate! <laugh>) Dyer's drifted into at a second's notice and who (if anyone) has occupied his old one. It's a new system with far different players than he's used to, but the early signs are promising and he offers a threat via flick-ons and holding up the ball that we've not had in YEARS.

He needs games and fitness (like everyone), but I don't doubt he'll come good for us.

I do have my doubts tbh. He's not very fast, not very strong, not very good in the air... I can't see him scoring enough goals for us. I'm quite concerned atm.

I hope I'm just being overly anxious and I really hope it all clicks into place soon.

Our play doesn't suit him but to write him off after 1 or 2 games is laughable.

I hope the opinions of people possibly writing him off aren't the opinions of fans who have only seen 1 Swans home game in the last 10 years!

I would never write any Swans player off, particularly so early in to their career with us. By identifying his lack of pace, I was merely illustrating a problem that was there in the Man City game, and then again today. The biggest difference between the prem and the championship, that I have noticed, is the individual acceleration and pace of the players, and, as such, like pointed out already in this thread, players such as Scotland have not succeeded at this level despite an obvious level of skill and ability. I fear that DG may not have the necessary speed to succeed at this level, but, as a long time Swans supporter, I of course want him to, as his success would equate to the club's success.

Jesus, I have been waiting for a thread like this. He has played 2 games for us. One against the potential champions and we have people saying they dont think he is going to be good enough, he doesnt have any pace. I dont believe our fans sometimes. I think the last 2 games DG has put in a hell of a shift and worked extremely hard. The goals with come. He is not being marked by average defenders now. Give him time and get behind him.
