Why are you telling me that? It's got nothing to do with what I said or what we're discussing.

It has everything to do with it. If we can't even sell out of season tickets in a 25,000 seater stadium what makes you think there's a sustained demand for a 35,000 seater stadium?

You need to take Stoke off that list, now they're averaging almost 30k (even West Brom are averaging over 25k).

The same ones that got bored after a few seasons and lost interest all together when we got relegated. Once the novelty wore off those 'fans' returned to supporting their old teams.

We did sell out season tickets in a 25,000 seater stadium, you yourself just said that. I never said there was a sustained demand for a 35,000 seater stadium.

    What a very odd post.

They've had 10 years of PL success averaging under 30K, so it proves we didn't need a 30k plus stadium to become established. Also we are capable of matching West Broms average with the facilities we currently have, again kind of proves my point.

So a 25,000 seater stadium is about right for us then?

Are you confusing my posts with somebody else?

The global fan base? Yes, in the slums of Rio to the opulent surroundings of Rio whether it was a forward pass or offside is something peoplevdiscuss endlessly.

Hundreds of thousands means more than two hundred thousand. But, just using logic, most people who go to games arecseason ticket holders. These are the same people who go when times are bad, there aren't new people. Just take City as an example. In the PL we had 20,000 pass holders the first season. Average crowd of nearly 25,000. So the season ticket holder go to every game. That leaves 5,000 of which 2,5000 were away fans and the other 2,500 were pay on the day fans. Some of those will have paid for more than one game but let's assume they were different every time. For 19 home games that would be a maximum of 95,000 different people, though in reality it would be less. So, in a season which saw 475,000 go through the gates a maximum of 115,000 different people will have seen them.
I would love to think millions around the world follow the fortunes of City, but they don't. If they did even the Allams could have fixed up sponsorship deals.
The amount who know about the rugby teams will be even less as the rugby teams have never had the exposure City have had on TV. They aren't that well known South of Sheffield.

Reading through I have misinterpreted what you wrote, I thought with what you were saying you were implying it should have been bigger, actually you don't explicitly say that so apologies sir, no offence intended.

We will never know then we will ?
The KC was sold out for every game during the first season in PL. No-one knows how many seats we could have sold if they had been available. Also the KC capacity isn't even 25,000 when the segregation quota is taken off.
Also this term 'glory supporters' ? Will there be 20,000 'glory supporters' at Wembley tomorrow following FC ?
Because they don't turn up and fill the KC on match days.
Surely the aim every club in every sport is to be successful to attract bigger crowds and grow the club in size ? Otherwise what is the point ? They might have well remain at amateur status if they never want to expand.
'Glory supporters' are the ones every club is hoping to attract and keep.
To end IMO the KC should have been at least 35,000 capacity with a view to expanding it further when the demand was there.
    But we will never know.

You've made some good posts here airline, over exaggerated the millions bit apart.
Funny how after awhile it becomes about beating a poster though. The saxo thread shows that.

Airline!!! Shows how little FC are known :emoticon-0140-rofl:

I know 2 people going tomorrow to support Hull FC who have never watched them at the KC/Com in their lives.

As for a glory supporters tag being levelled at us - seriously, how does that work? We got bigger crowds in the bottom division than we did in the Premier League. FACT.

Unfortunately it is. We have occasionally got large gates, especially for Cup games in the past and could have filled a 40,000 stadium for a few games in our first PL season. But we have not averaged over 25,000 since the early 1950s, our last 30,000+ league crowd was in 1967/8 season and the last 30,000+ crowd for a Cup game was in 1973.
If we could make a challenge in the PL we could well exceed 30,000 regularly but this is a city where crowds dropped after a season of PL football after waiting for over a century for top flight football as the novelty had worn off. Even a decade of being in the PL which would consist of avoiding relegation with at best a mid table finish wouldn't see large crowds.

A lot of people's first, and last, experience of a rugby league match was the FC v Rovers final.

Obviously its something thats really not worth arguing about as we will never have the figures.

With your calculations, plus the other 14 seasons City have played at the KCOM, add to that 15 seasons of rugby and I think more than 200,000 is probably a fair estimate, I respect your right to disagree though but I'm not bothered enough to argue with you about it.

I'm willing to bet there were plenty of people who had no prior interest in City at some or all of our recent Wembley appearances too.
