GAME STARTER - 1:55 - York - 5/1 Will give this one a little write up in a bid to get Friday off to a good start. His 4 length beating of Brorocco last time (albeit in receipt of 7lb) reads well as form at this level in its own right. If you want to put negative spin on that performance then you'll say he had the run of the race, but to me it was a performance full of promise. It was just a relentless pace when he wound it up and I think York will really suit him - I can't see anyone passing him if he runs in a similar manner and increases the gallop down the long straight. He is a huge, raw horse that is only going to improve, but I think he has enough even at this stage in his development to take this one tomorrow before going on to bigger things next year.
I like that one a lot David, but one thing puts me off. In one word? Cosgrave! De Souza, Lane. Stott, Buick, Doyle or Holly Doyle and I'd be with you.....but... I'm going e/w on Amazing Red. Think the cruellest cut has made a man of him! Good luck with Pat!!!
Interesting booking tomorrow for Charlie Appleby getting Colm Odonoghue over for a few rides looks to have a decent chance of a treble! A little to short for me for a treble pays just over 8/1
He should be a straight forward ride so would hope any pilot could get him in the frame. Sit him near the pace, wind him up and send him on half a mile out. Also fancied his mount Dal Harraild in the following race but thought a Pat Friday double was too much to ask for!
4 15 York - Sha La La La Lee 40/1 2 15 Ffos Las - Data Protection 16/1 Just 2 e/w fancies today Interested to see what my cousin says about the newmarket race tomorrow, i'm gunna be all over Tropics regardless as opposed to Lancelot as imo i still think Tropics is the better horse, gone a bit purple last year but could really exploit that mark of 97 and this 20/1 predicted could be made to look silly
Seeing that the photograph selection worked out so well in the Juddmonte, I though I'd take another whack at it. Lonsdale Cup. please log in to view this image
In the City of York Stakes I was struggling last night to choose between Suedois, Talaayeb and So Beloved, Nothing btween Suedois and So Beloved on their run behind Breton Rock, where both met with interference. So beloved ran a cracker against The Gurkha last year. Seems to run well without winning so eventually narrowed it down to the other two. In her only run as a 2yo Talaayeb beat Neshmeya 2½l who, in her next run was beaten 3½l by Shutter Speed. Talaayeb's first run as a 3yo was in the 1000 Gns where she finished 4th to Winter, just 1¼l behind race fit Daban. She found 10f a bit too far in her only other race, having dwelt at the start. Lightly raced, this could be the joker in the pack. However, I went for Suedois, just; but I'm now thinking I should have gone for the filly. Can't change my mind now.
4.15 Capital Flight. Surely even Spencer can't get this one into any more trouble than he encountered against Dee Ex Bee (btn6¾l)
2.25 York- DARTMOUTH- 4/1 I had previously napped the Mullins runner in this race in the competition. However I had a look at this race in quite a bit of depth last nite and it completely changed my view(although I have broken the number one rule in betting - never change your mind- and I got stung by that yesterday too- damn pundits!!)Thomas Hobson has the pace to find dropping back to 2m plus he has Crowley on board. But Dartmouth over 2m is still massively unexposed he won the Yorkshire cup here earlier in the season against what you could argue a much stronger field than this with endless time and Marmelo both coming out to win Group 3 and 2 races respectively. His last run he went off 9/4 fav in the hardwicke and finished a decent 4th, when you could argue he wasn't at his best that day. The step up to 2m looks only to suit him and is the only horse to win a group race this year. Plus the fact SMS had a big winner on Wednesday and fully expect him to be able to give the 3lbs to the field and give her majesty her first (and only ) winner of the meeting
Non runner! Pile on Pat on Dal Harraild? Think I like Londinium now in this race, Mukhayyam overpriced
Game Starter is now a NR. I'm gonna go with Speedo Boy in the 1:55 De Sousa on board, may like the softer ground more than some others in the race - untested at this increased distance but has dropped from 20s to 9s overnight (probably mostly down to the jockey booking)
One third and two unplaced, pretty lousy York for me up till now, (man, York is difficult though?). Think I'll examine the selections of my peers on the forum today, but won't say anything for fear of upsetting anyone - I could stop both Ribot and Sea Bird II at the moment! Maybe, I'll find something myself, I dunno. Regardless, really enjoying the meeting, and today's big race is a corker.
You know, Mick, long ago one of the very best, if not the best, contributor on the original 606 was a gentleman called Galaxy. His winner record was quite extraordinary, but I do remember how much he liked Pat Cosgrave as a jockey. How times change!
York 3.00pm Mix and Mingle 18/1 each way Off to a wedding today so you could say rather aptly named.. Anyhoo was due to run in the Hungerford Stakes as were a couple of others but withdrawn due to soft going. Fingers crossed it continues to dry out today... Her record at 7 furlongs is pretty good having only finished outside top 4 once. Gave the high class Qemah a pretty good beating at Lingfield this season which is top form. Last time out over a stiff Mile at Ascot not her thing...this should be more her cup of tea today and i anticipate a big run on as i believe she is improving on what I hope is quick enough ground.
I keep coming back to this one so will follow you in with a little punt. Her best form is probably ahead of anything else in the race, and I don't think her run last time out was too bad at all (only in the final furlong that she bowed out). When she beat Qemah previously there was a little soft in the going, and with the weather sunny and breezy up in York now we might be looking at genuine good ground come the off
Hadeeqa 355 ffos las came 3rd lto behind Lincoln rocks who won the last at York yesterday and Simon crisford is in a good vein of form at the moment so I shall be investing my hard earned dough currently 11/4 so may be worth avoiding as my form is terrible at the moment lol good luck today guys
Would have thought the same but running in a listed race does not take advantage of this low mark. When you orinally posted about the LduL race I had backed tropics as I thought it looked like a horse with a mark to exploit
