    The Telegraph reporting a possible move to Arsenal for VVD gives it authenticity....until you realise they are quoting the Sun! What is the world coming to? My plan for Virgil is apparently against European law....the sooner we leave Europe and can start dismembering errant footballers the better. :) Whilst I would like us to stay firm, a move to Arsenal would be the lesser of evils. Do we really want him hanging around Staplewood like a bad smell? Pellegrino must be fed up with the whole situation...none of his doing and just a distraction.

    Agreed. Anywhere but Scouseland for me. Arsenal would be funny as they don't have Champions League and don't have passionate noisey fans, all things VD said what attracted him to Pool

    But they aren't Saints....and I suspect that would be the major selling point for Virgil. He must hate the position that he is in...even though it is his own doing.

    Our backline is ok...rather spend the money on an attacking player. I know Mauricio said we weren't about to buy anyone...he did add the proviso that things could change.

    That's my downside. I'd be more comfortable with another quality CB if VD leaves or just isn't going to play again.

    It is ok, but we've been Maya/Fonte/Toby or Maya/Fonte/VD for the last three seasons as the three main options. Fonte at that time was excellent (younger and not the Fonte of today). We knew what we'd get with those, take Fonte plus VD out and we've got Jack and Wesley. Wesley may well be the real deal - I have no idea yet - and Jack, who looks capable but not fully proven.

    I'm not saying they are not ok, i may just be being over cautious.

    Lemina looked good, so hoping he can form a partnership with OR, that will take some pressure from the back line. We need Wes to hit the ground running, just hope there's no cruel twist with injuries early on.
