Development wise he'll get much more out of a loan, than he'll get from some U23 games and the odd appearance on the bench. Cup wise I think Farke will be putting in just as strong teams for the cup as he does for league games. If we want our youth development policy to work then we really are going to have to put player development before sentiment.
That's what I meant yesterday when I posted the link re Godfrey's loan to the Shrews' and it will give him a tougher test than he would have got had he stayed here. I can also see FML's point of view, but the loan is only till January.
Thinking about it, I remember in one pre-season game he made a hash of a back pass which resulted in a goal being scored against us. It had a massive effect on Ben, resulting in a pep talk from DF who told him mistakes happen, learn from them and move on. I wonder if that's the thinking behind this short term loan!
Yea, true, but I still think Maddison could have played and improved us last season. Above Dorrans and Naismith.
Maybe inadvertently you've hit on the real reason why we've retained Martin, to show younger players that you can consistently f*** up and still play.
Not sure if I agree about Dorrans, for me we always seemed to look a lot more solid when he played. But I think if we'd kept Maddison and played Hoolahn a bit less we would have got more out of both players.
Updates from today's presser at Colney - "DF says he'd have liked to keep Ben Godfrey - but the move is the best for him; defines his best position as holding midfielder. Oliveira good to go. Jerome out. Klose won't b risked. Franke fine Jarvis out until at least February after having surgery on an Achilles/ankle problem – matron will NOT be pleased!!!!!
Just watching the last round of the cup highlights. Brady looks fantastic. His crossing and dead-balls are always spot on in this game, and scored a cracking goal. Him delivering balls for Vokes and Wood and Barnes. Going to cause teams problems. I wouldn't want Norwich to have to play them. They would score so many against us.
COULD DF have identified why we concede SOOO many 'cheap goals' and have started on how to at least reduce them - http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic...e-reason-for-canaries-vulnerability-1-5164910. Today will be a good test and then we have the international break to work on his ideas.
From the article: Sorry, Daniel, but I have to disagree. Klose, when he eventually returns, and Zimmermen look the part - but the jury's still out on Franke and it's pretty common knowledge that Russ Martin is a nice bloke, good diplomat etc - but a gash centre half Unless we sign one more CB we could see this leakage of soft goals continue long into the season.
I'm pretty sure that 99.995% of people who post on here would agree with the statement I've highlighted!!! DF is on record in saying that he won't be bringing any more players in before the window closes, so maybe he'll get another loan player in.
I think we had of the strongest squads in the league, but through sales and flooding it with lower league German imports I think we have seriously diluted the talent in our squad. It would be improved vastly by a fully fit Pinto, Klose and Prichard. Still, I don't know if we have a top 6 squad anymore, let alone one of the best in the league. Clubs have come down strong, and rivals who haven't been in the Premiership have still managed to bring in class players. I'm also not sure of the managers abilities just yet. He talks the talk, but so did Alex Neil.
JMF, I'll take your maths to task. As there are about 25 posters on this site, the most possible, other than 100%, is 96%. A quick calculation put your % at 1 in 20,000. "This student tries hard, but fails to grasp the fundamentals of percentages". Sorry JMF, couldn't resist.
