Nashy, I genuinely feel that it's going to be a close one this year....and you may finish in the ascendancy. Let's face it, you've had a great start.

We're usually slow starters and this season is no exception, especially with the size of the squad a couple of weeks back, but we're 4 points better off than this time last year and by the time December 18th arrives, we'll be ready and waiting for you.

 

The first game of football I saw at the Dell was on 10th April 1971 and I can count on the fingers of one hand the home games I have missed since then. The match you mention was actually a league match.

What I liked about the Ted Bates era is that every team that came to the Dell had one or two really great players unlike now when they all end up playing for one of four or five clubs.

 

Genuinely looking forward to it. Ive previously mentioned that i think each team will pick up 3 points at the home fixture. I am not putting all my eggs in one basket, but after the last few years being a Saints fan..... i will not let anyone deny or stop my happiness with the current affairs!

 

For what it's worth, i think you'll finish top 10, where exactly remains to be seen but remember Norwich were the exception not the rule

 

Shame that you're not in our position, because if you were then you might be able to wait until December. I'm loving being a Saints fan so much right now, that I want to enjoy this weekend, and then the next weekend, and the weekend after. Every match right now is an absoloute delight. I don't want to fast-forward through them, I don't want to look beyond them. December the 18th can wait December 11th, once we've played Blackpool. Saints success is way more important to me than one match vs Pompey.

 

The blue few are insignificant. Our real competitors are Reading and Brighton.

 

Is wumming now encouraged on this forum outside of the banter thread? What's the situation? I'd really like to know as I am considering leaving the forum if wumming is the way it's going to be.

 

We keep an eye on the situation as always........trouble is what is wumming to one fan is pure banter to another.......to be fair I think we keep it to a minimum. I think the episode with SB3 proved that we are only tolerant to a degree. I think you will agree when it starts to get out of hand we the mods deal. If you find that someone seems to you offensive just put him on your ignore list. Wumming is never encouraged and to be honest I have not seen any posts that encourage that. If there is, pm me and draw my attention or St_brendy's attention to it and a judgement will be made.

 

Thanks Beddytare - I really like this forum, just worried it'll be ruined. I'm glad it's in the safe hands of the mods though!

Just checked the pompey forum, and nope. No saints WUMs there. The blue losers are clearly just jealous.

Its alright frattonfunkdaddy, i know you can't afford a saints shirt, but I have a few oldies lying around you can have.

I'll even teach you all our songs.

You can see what it's like to get excited on match days, and walk into a decent stadium thats filled with anticipation, not the smell of rotting vegetables. We also have a full squad of players! Won't that be nice diddums?

 

You only WUM when you want to annoy and at the moment Saints being top of the league and Brighton second is more annoying to them than any WUM could possibly be.

I can assure you that in the pubs, bars and hovels of Portsmouth the Skates are green with envy and are spitting blood at this very moment.

 

Godders stop being a dick. Pompey are our main rivals. History etc, maybe you have lived to long on the out skirts of the city.

I understand the literal definition of a rival and in our case that would exclude Pompey.

What is your definition other than the fact you don't seem to like them very much?

By hanging on to our shirt tails Pompey gain some esteem. If we have nothing to do with them then they become irrelevant. Their self importance and status is only gained only by their association with us. Without us they are nothing. That is why they will not accept the fact that Brighton and Bournemouth are their true rivals and not us.
