There was surprise when the organisers announced earlier in the week the draw would be taking place in China at 04:15 BST on Thursday.
Previous draws for the competition have suffered problems - including teams being drawn out twice and confusion around home and away ties.
The third-round draw appeared to go without incident. There was no live coverage of the draw - on television or online - but details were released on social media.

There's a good chance of a trip to the Iberian Peninsula in the CL looking at the teams in Pot 2, 3 Spanish, one Portuguese, you can't play "You Know Who", or City while in Pot 1 there lurks God's team and Benfica. And you won't be going to the "crazies in Turkey, or Greece or Italy. You could have a kind draw eg Spartak, although going there in December would be an interesting experience, or Shaktar, another place that is freezing from November onwards.

Ideal would be: Sevilla (not as good as they were 2 seasons ago), Benfica, and Celtic or Apoel!!! Three excellent trips. Imagine going to Cyprus in December and you could take your bathing gear along.

Real and "You Know Who" have already played each other twice recently. I would not be surprised to see the two locked together in the Group Stage, along with two average sides, ensuring both progress.

This season it's a chance for the Youth team to have a run out (like Wenger did when Arsenal were capable of challenging in the League and get past the last 16 of the CL) but I fancy Leics (along with Utd sadly) to do well in the League cup.

If Klopp plays strong teams in the League cup, the squad will be out on it's arse after xmas again!!

As for Leics, they enjoyed their sojourn into the CL, so winning the LC would give them a chance of the Europa League and they have a squad strong enough to win it. They shouldn't be anywhere near relegation now Shakespere has them playing to their strengths, so can have a go.

As for the Manc's they have a very big squad, so can play strong teams in the LC and have Burton at home, the ****ers!!

 

they will get tonked if they get played so this is a first team game.

Kent should be loaned out not play a single game of low value.

The FIRST cL group game is the week before and the second group game is the week after. SERIOUSLY whats our priority here.......

We will play a **** team in this league cup game and get sent home. Its inevitable. We cannot focus on the league cup, league and CL all at the same time... lets be realistic here.

I would seriously loan out any kids on the margins until january now. Kent, wilson, ejaria even.. flanagan should be sold and jesus... ward as well... theres no games for these lads.

we cannot be playing this round with any senior players as we have league and CL around it. That draw is the worst possible as if we drew a top 6 side they'd be playing kids too and we'd all roll the dice.

Leicester can just play the full team, not be affected at all.

 

The 2 legged SF around the busiest time of the season is a ****ing nightmare for a manager (although great for fans). If we are in the KO draw for the CL, no one will losing sleep over being out of the LC.
