Nope. It's tea if it's informal and dinner if you're going out or using the formal dining room :)

Correct in principle, but one point needs clarifying - tea can be taken at the dining room table.

Tea is what you have at tea-time, ie when you get in from school or work. It involves a pot of tea (there's the clue), maybe a sandwich - jam, preferably - biscuits or cake.

Anything involving potatoes, beans, eggs etc is not tea, it's supper. If you sit down to a full meal in the evening, and there isn't even a pot of tea on the table, it clearly isn't ****ing tea, as evidenced by the lack of said ****ing beverage.

This is the definitive answer on the subject.

Which is why, as is so often the case beyond the Watford Gap services, it wasn't quite right <ok>

    Yes please.

Don't even get me started on weak milky cups of feeble piss.

A proper cup of Rosie Lee the colour of red brick.

I didn't mean you mate, it was a jibe at the old Watford Gap thing that's used so often. The misplaced superiority that those from the South East love to apply to us primitive Northerners, when some of the dumbest ****s in the country live in the SE.
