Disagree about Townsend. IMHO he could have had the Pochettino treatment if he remained long enough, but those Ingerland call-ups etc seemed to delude him into thinking he was Bale mk2.
Perhaps i should have wrote - A guy from a Man City forum with supposed inside information of transfer activity who tends to get more right than he gets wrong and follows the City youth team.
Sunday's game hasn't got anything to do with my opinion, mate. I'm over that. I've been saying the same since the end of the 2015/16 season when we played 4231, and for about the first 1/3 of last season, before we changed and used the 352. In 2015/16, our 4231 worked for us for a long spell, but towards the end in the final 10 games or so, I felt we'd been found out and we saw teams park the bus against us. We continued this into 2016/17, before implementing the 352 as we were facing the same problem. This proved so much more successful with our squad personnel, as it allowed Rose and Walker to have the flanks to pretty much themselves for periods of the game, driving forward and exploiting at pace, as well as giving our central players much more time on the ball due to the space they'd created out wide. However, previously when they were used in a 4231 the space they were positioned in (and maybe even under instructions as well), meant they were holding a much more defensive area, seemed more restricted, and were unable to do what i've mentioned above due to lack of space in front of them when playing that formation. We see with a lot of other teams playing 4231 that often the outlet pass when mounting a counter attack is to one of the players in the "3". Unfortunately, our players at that time were too slow to break, and may be the reason why Poch ended up switching to 352. Even if Walker and/or Rose is replaced, we may end up having to resort back to a 4231 at times. Maybe more than we think, depending on what games Davies and Trippier play in, which i imagine will be quite a lot. Now that isn't a problem IMO, as I personally feel that Trippier and Davies are at their best when played in a 4, but what it would mean is having the right players in front of them to break on the counter. And that's why I think we need an addition in the "forward" position. Lennon, anyone?
To be fair buddy Son had an excellent start to his Spurs career but then had a bad injury and when he came back struggled for the rest of his first season. Last season we saw the player that was getting such rave reviews in the Bundesliga before he joined.
The papers seem to like the idea of us selling a player to Kvetch Brom for £15m, since last week it was Wimmer headed that way for that fee. Don't suppose they fancy taking a punt on Sissoko?
They'll get a nasty surprise when they open the box containing £30m worth of Spurs player... please log in to view this image
Sanchez may be No. 6 today, but once DOF Rose has had a chat, the boy will be saying : I am not a number, I am a free man.
You can never predict how a player does in a new country and league but we have signed a player in Sanchez who has everything the modern day defender needs. Physically he is outstanding - Power, height, Speed, agility. Technically he is excellent and if he plays in a three as expected he has the ability to drive forward with the ball. He hasnt left Ajax to come here to sit on the bench and although he might not be thrown in at the deep end it wont be long before he is part of an outstanding back three. Really excited by this signing and huge credit to the club in signing him. Aurier, Sancho and Barkley next please.........
Here's something interesting about Aurier: a SkyBet News story posted a little over an hour ago may have the headline that we're bidding, but the article itself mainly focuses on PSG needing to sell so they don't get to visit the various grounds of Ligue 2 next season, which no doubt has Levy wondering if he should risk it and sign Verratti or Draxler (or, dare I say it, Rabiot) for a knock-down price next summer...
