You are right he was good pre season, against L1 L2 standard sides as soon as we play a bit of quality, Fers lack of it shows. I will agree you tend to get 1 very good game in about 6 out of him. As for him winning player of the year. Not a chance. I have read that piece Roof and not being up on anything financial, it is way above my head mate, but no doubt some on here will explain it to me.

By the way roof, my u19's have started pre season and we have won our first 2 games, 8-0 one of them and 2-0 last weekend, not a bad start, need to take that into our season now.

Didn't quite happen like that...not sure if you were glad to be proved wrong or not.

I'm done fighting Fer's corner from his own .At 4.5 million , Leroy Fer has been pure value valley to the club , as he was pure value to Norwich and QPR in their failing seasons . He will never get a second chance from those who had their first impression since he walked in the door . If I could change positions with you valley , I would ban you for a few weeks for pure stupidity .Tear Fer down all you want , it means nothing to the people in charge counting on him for the team .

He's a decent squad player and that's it Roof. We could name all of the midfielder we have had at our disposal in the PL and he'd be low down in the list, whereas you think he's better than Gylfi.

You kept banging on about how we'd be fine without Gylfi because we have Fer. Answer me this, how have we faired creatively or attacking wise, since Gylfi left? Fer is average, and not a patch on previous midfielder/attackers we've had.

If we had a quality midfield and attacking options, Fer would be nothing more than an impact sub.

This is the sad part. He's big and strong, can tackle, can pass the ball, head the ball, has good ball control, a good shot but he has a lazy , laid back attitude on the pitch, If he would only put 90 minutes of effort in he would be some player.

I thought it was between Fer and Ayew for MoM last night alhough both could have improved n their finishing 1st half

Sounded like the Ayew show to me he was mentioned so often, good to see. I rate him a lot but as Clement says he needs to get some quality end product into his game. He is an enormous talent who I think we'll see come out from behind his big brothers shadow this season.

My tuppence worth on Fer, O like him but he is a little inconsistent. For £4.5m though he is amazing value and he has earned his keep since he's been here. He has the talent to be a great midfielder but for me he loses focus too often to be our main man at this time.

His losing focus could be due to lack of fitness or he could just lose his concentration, either way both of these things can be fixed but I think he's at the stage in his career where only he can fix them. He has to want to put in the extra yards in training like Siggy did. He did that little bit more in training to improve himself and Fer has to do the same imo, but first he has to believe he can be the main man then show commitment to himself by putting in the 'exta' in training.

    Clement
“I think we’ll be okay at left-back,” Clement said. “We have got Martin, we know Sam can play in that position if required and we also know Kyle Naughton can play in that position.

“I think we will stay as we are as far as left-back goes.”

    'kin hope so!

Clement did say he was going to put out a strong team, said he wanted to get some momentum going along with a chance to bed in players like Mesa & Abraham & build confidence after what turned out to be a heavy defeat against United.

For fans like myself it was good to see as we'd made the effort to travel there but there was always the risk of possibly injuries & so it proved with Bartley but overall think it was the correct decision by the boss.

Well as things stand there would be 18 Prem teams in round 3 (Watford are out, Huddersfield losing at home to Rotherham), 11 Championship sides which leaves 3 others - Doncaster, Bristol Rovers, Rotherham (all League 1).

A home tie with Bristol Rovers would be OK with me <ok>

Huddersfield have scored 2 quick goals: make that 19 Prem teams (Newcastle and Southampton still in the balance though)
