Kingsley and Aina as starting fullback with Lenihan and Clark as back up is sufficient, three CBs is probably ok, with Aina able to play there at a stretch, although one more youth prospect might be worth having. Central midfield with Toral's arrival should be ok even if Mason doesn't ever come back, as Henricksen and Evandro should hopefully be ok soon. Need another option or two out wide which will hopefully be Success and maybe one more. Definitely need another striker up top. But yes I think we could make do with 6 more (Kingsley, Toral, Success(?), CB, Winger, Striker).
With all the outgoings and possible incomings we have a team full of strangers. So much for retaining the spine of the team.
Yep, 6 more incomings would leave us with (I think) 12 new players. Other than GK every position could conceivably be filled with a new player. Meyler is truly one out as a lasting legacy of our past era. McGregor doesn't seem to have much personality around the club.
I'm somewhat surprised when we stuff around with some signings, then seemingly steal players from other clubs e.g. Larsson and Toral. We're clearly not being THAT amateurish with our offers and negotiations, but it just puzzles me.
Why do you think it would all be about money? He might not want to live here for personal reasons. He might have seen what a clusterfuck of a club we are and not want to be part of it. He might be holding out for another club (Cardiff). Or we just might not have offered him a deal.
BREAKING: Barcelona will make another bid for Philippe Coutinho worth £138m - he still wants to leave Liverpool... [Sky Sports]
Gregor been at the club 4 years, 100+ appreances probably. the man only talks about gloves on social media, but he's a goalkeeper, they're wierd How does he have no personality around the club though
I was thinking exactly the same. People I know who seriously follow Arsenal think Toral is the real deal, just not quite top 4 quality. Swansea seem to hold their lad in high regard too. Seems strange how we can't sort out contracts for our own players/mess around with other signings, yet then can get very good signings at decent prices.
Because he's rarely interviewed and as you say has zero social media presence apart from retweeting glove adverts. Meyler is much more vocal and has more personality on the pitch and off it.
But also the fact that Derby were trying to get Toral but then we managed to get him. Why would he choose to come here over Derby? Unless we're offering a much bigger wage? Which then comes back to your question, if we're willing to offer big wages to some players like Toral, why not to our own players? Suppose it's all relative, but still..
I don't think having no social media presence and not giving interviews is an indication of no personality, more an indication of f. off and mind your own business! But as BrAdy says, keepers are a bit weird...
