Legalisation of weed in the states has pushed up production of meth and even heroin here, so bigger prices to pay as things hot up over turf and old / new producers with new "products". This shouldn´t hurt "everyday" people, but sometimes things get mixed up and good people get hit. Another statistic, real people suffer whist the utter c?=ts in charge do nada, same old story with that. No wonder the law is taken into own hands sometimes. It is generally peaceful here, bad luck, wrong time wrong place, or into it and/or looking for it can get you Jill Dandoed. Europe isnt safe either but that is a totally different threat. I love this country but it is sure complicated sometimes. A tear sheds my eye... I´ve had a tough week, need 3 p(o)ints tomorrow and some...
Morning all, Poitiers is on the main autoroute that runs from Spain up to Holland and the ferries into the UK. Every week there will be a report in the local news how a lorry has been found to be carrying drugs of one sort or another. It does seem that much of the stopping is intelligence led. I wonder for every lorry that is caught, how many are not? It is reported in Oxfordshire from time to time how a lorry has been stopped and it is full of either drugs or illegal immigrants, so clearly checks at borders are not always very successful. If there is easy money to be made there will always be those who will be prepared to break the law to profit. Yes, I did have an hour of very welcome rain yesterday, and the sun is now shining. I hope to have less computer problems this afternoon than last week, and have a game that I can enjoy.
Tomorrow is my monthly football dinner. This means I need to catch up and see how Middlesbrough , Forest, Derby, Charlton, Burnley, and Swindon are doing. It is great to get e-mails from friends to commiserate or applaud Watford's results. Our dinner is always a splendid meal, but we all donate some goods that go to the local food bank and show what a good lot English football fans can be.
Happy 20th August everyone - an important date in Watford's history, as some of the older ones on here may remember...
Seems as if the world of football loves our Harry. Which EPL club has the best mascot, something you can vote on, and so far he leads by a country mile. http://www.planetfootball.com/quick...r-leagues-best-mascots-gunnersaurus-fred-red/
Sun´ll be blocked here tomorrow for a bit, feeling better after a decentish weekend. Sorry for some rants on here this week, but things hit me hard. Back on some sort of track now.
Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, St Petersburg, Tallin, Wismar, Ijmuiden...and back home again! Great trip, great sights, great food, and incredible good fortune of sunny weather following us as we went. Just today to relax before the arrival of grandchildren for three days. I may well be a bit cream crackered by the end of the week!
Morning all from a bright and sunny rural France. 33°C forecast for this afternoon, so currently all windows and doors open to gather as much cool air as possible, then around midday we will shut them to keep the hot air out. It usually works quite well.
Looking at the "On This Day" book by Matt Rowson, it was the day in 1968 we signed Barry Endean on a pro contract after he'd scored the winner in a reserve match against Southend. Fast forward just over 15 years, and the strength of reserve team football at the time was shown in that second leg against Kaiserslautern. Good morning all from a cloudy island, although the forecast is for it to be sunny later with a temperature in the mid-20s.
You're spot on with that - and on the same date the following year our record League attendance was set, 27,968 against QPR. Shame we lost though... And it's a shame the forecast says rain all day up here too.
