    1. Needed to make an earlier decision on Nasri and Cesc...it has been drawn out all summer and we don't appear to have received any more money then was originally offered

    2. Wenger established that defence was our weakness last season and still not signed anyone (we've let Clichy and Eboue leave and only brought in a kid from Charlton). If he signs anyone now they won't have had a vital pre-season to settle into the side

    3. He's put faith in the wrong players...Gibbs and Chamakh had a shocking preseason yet thier positions in the side look unthreatned

    4. Supposed transfer targets have slipped through our fingers...Alvarez and Vidal would have been amazing signings for us but he's spent money in teenagers

    5. He lies too often and the fans frustrations are partly down to what feels like a con...he tries to convince us players are staying ("we can't be considered a big team if we sell our stars") only to then sell them weeks later...so are we not a big side then? Either say nothing or the truth as I don't trust Wenger and his relationship is at its lowest point

    6. Wenger indicated he might strengthen his back room team which I think would have been a massive help to the team, imagine the impact a top notch defensive coach might have!!

100% correct with your analysis. I refuse to believe the vast majority of fans are happy with the situation, the fans that it is claimed still back Wenger are fewer in number than they know because up until the end of last season I was a stalwart Wenger fan ... but not any more and I know plenty like me !

But you can't judge players by preseason Games, they are really about getting players match fit

  5. Agree with you throughout. It a case of continuous dithering, refusing to accept facts and indecision. If some of the press is to be believed, they look at a player then think of someone else and that cycle goes on. If they really wanted Mata, letting the date before that clause kicked in go by was the dumbest thing I have ever come across and then on top of that there were reports he was still hoping to do the deal at the earlier price. If the press is to be believed that is.

On your last point, I wonder who indeed can work with Wenger. I think it's pretty obvious he listens to no one. Such a shame for us David Dein is no longer on board. Like many of us I am virtually as a point where if Arsene does not do something quick to rectify matters it may be a case of good riddance, sad as that may be. The man is not taking us anywhere but down if he persists in this manner. Even when the FFP rules come into play, there is still the matter of spending, something which he doesn't like to do, yet pays himself the highest salary at The Emirates.

he didn't get Mata as he thought Nasri could be persuaded to stay. buying them then would have sent out the wrong message to the squad. however, scouting should have been undertaken and targets identified in a "just in case" scenario. this is good planning. as soon as it became clear that Fabregas & Nasri both wanted to go, offers should have been made & replacements brought in.

  7. Quite but he didn't so here we are today, staring a steep hill over the next week to ten days.

I used to look forward to Arsene's post match interviews but now I can barely bring myself to having sympathy for him when he is agonizing on the touchline because really, we have been here before so we ought to know how to avoid this. I can't see him changing.

Can we please have some of our positive threads turned into articles? Another negative thread made into an article is beginning to smack of wummery

  9. Trouble is that there is no one on the board who is in a position to influence him and the majority shareholder lives in the US. We'll see if he does right some of those mistakes in the coming dozen days. In the meantime I am not exactly looking forward to any of the next three matches. After Dalglish's retort to Arsene in April, I really wouldn't want him to return and gloat after 90mins plus extra time.

From an Ipswich fan looking from the outside I can see Wenger is killing your club. He has a great philosophy of bringing youth through the ranks but then sells them when they become useful. You have become a feeder club for teams who are more successful than you, even Man City are buying from you now. He is loathe to spend big or change his view on how the game should played, a blinkered view in my opinion. I'm not even sure you will make top four this year. I think his time is up and should move on. It's all well and good playing pretty football but it's pointless if you win nothing. A change is needed.

  11. Welcome to ArsenaLand San Diego

You're right. This man seems to be beyond change. Change will be forthcoming if he doesn't because I just cannot see how his intransigence will get him anywhere. It would be a sad end to such an illustrious era.

Disagree about Gibbs, but the last time Chamakh scored in the league was November. I was talking to a mate about it the other day and thought it would probably be a sound bet to say he wont score in the league for an entire year.

  13. I wonder if we could lend Chamakh out and see how he performs. A change of environment may be helpful.

Now getting back to Arsene. It's anyone's guess, isn't it, what he would be up to next?

You certainly can't knock what he's done for you in the past but recently he's only been buying young players. It makes me think that he wants total control and that sometimes maybe older players might question his ways from time to time, either that or he's a bit 'Micheal Jackson' and likes to be surrounded by young boys..hmmmmm? It's quite obvious that you have no real leaders on the pitch or anyone a bit 'nasty', so to speak. Your current team is so different from the invincibles who had 'men' all over the pitch. I do think you should try your best to keep RVP though 'cos he is pure class and you need him more than Cesc or Nasri.

  15. We're not letting go of RVP and as for Arsene, well, you know there is a time of life when one only sees things one's way. That's him alright. But unless the board or Kronke man up, the only ones who can force the issue are the fans. David Dein and others may ask who could take his place. Well I think there could be a few. Whether they would be available or desire the position is another matter. No one really is that irreplaceable. The game has moved on and Arsene's youth program sadly fell short in it's purest form. He needs to realise that and move along with the times or he may be forced to go. As I said in other threads, there ought to have been someone else at board level who had a one to one association with Arsene. It's to our detriment that there isn't. That doesn't mean we value any less what he's done since no manager has come close. As I said, time moves on.

Every dog has his day. Its time we put Wenger down, and saved on the Vet bills. As a guard dog he can't bite, doesn't frighten anyone, and can't chase cool cats for toffee.
