Not really 'political debate' material I suppose - apart from the fact that Tory MP Nigel Mills is trying his best to have the video banned - a GP surgery's explanation of what is happening within the NHS. Bit of an eye opener really.

Interesting point, the year prior to the Grenfell fire there was a total of 2,562 domestic white good appliance fires, of which 1,873 were due to faulty appliances. The top two appliances for this was Washing Machines followed by Tumble Dryers, although I'm not surprised by the latter considering the nature the appliance is intended for and could well be due to poor maintenance by the consumer, although I have seen no figures to evidence this. Fridge Freezers were fifth on the list with a total of 208 faults for the year, even higher than toasters which were seventh! I've seen no figures for death related incidents, other than the obvious recent tragic event.

From what I read brb, some of the appliances that are being sold have plastic backing which is not suitable for a machine that creates heat. I am not an expert on such things, but do wonder if such a report bringing attention to a possible problem should be left to gather dust somewhere in government.

I have basic understanding of how the appliances work but none of the plastic backing. It was interesting to note with the appliance fires this included 'leads' - however, I would like to see evidence of that defined a bit more, because leads could refer to extension leads and half the cheap rubbish on the market would not be fit to run an heavy duty electrical appliance ie other than a TV, especially something such as a tumble dryer, just a fire waiting to happen, machine draws current and extension melts. I'd be pretty confident with T/D's that a lot of the problems are with the consumers, whereas Washing Machines and Fridge Freezers I'd like to see more detail evidence of what is going on there. Trouble is the companies will probably not publish the evidence unless the fire brigade get called and get their hands on the appliance first, which is i'm guessing where the government stats come from and highlighted in the most devastating way possible. Problem is at the moment, the cladding is rightly taking the blame, I just hope they don't overlook the initial cause in the process.

popular with a grouping.. clearly would not be a good leader... his views are too far right in the Tory party and for the country as a whole...

As far as the system goes he only needs to convince his fellow MP's he is the best candidate for PM. As a brexiteer, very switched on and good in front of the cameras I'm sure he is well placed amongst the pack should a vacancy arise. The country at large would only be able to seriously judge him as a PM at a general election, which may well be a long way off.

    Second favourite.

Seeing as a large majority of Tory MPs are remainers, thankfully his chances of leading the party are not high. The trouble now is that no one can see a competent leader in the Tory party. Given a list of possible candidates the overwhelming choice in a recent poll, was none of them.

The overwhelming majority of Tory, and Labour MP',s voted for Brexit in parliament. The bookies also disagree with your assumption as they make two Brexiteers favourites.

Compared to the hapless Corbyn there would be hundreds in the Tory Party with better abilities.

You are failing to take note of the fact that there are only about 60 Tory MPs who are in favour of Brexit. The rest are not tied to vote for a leader who they don't believe in. The bookies odds purely reflect the money they have received, which could be next to nothing. Interesting though that there is so much talk about a new leader at such a time. Get into a leadership election and it would be just as productive as having a general election. Waste even more time for no result.

It was Corbyn's colleagues that overwhelmingly gave him a vote of no confidence. They must know him well to take such a serious step. Calling him 'hapless' is extremely mild compared to comments from his own side.

All those who gave that vote were forced to eat their words - nice to see people like Blair actually have to admit they made a mistake and concede that Corbyn is actually an electoral asset.

Most of those Labour MP's are still against the Momentum lead direction the party is going in. If there was any viable alternative they would ditch Corbyn and McDonnell today. Labour did lose a general election for the third time in row and were annihilated in the local elections.
