Wow, this is really civilized. Maybe we should think about restarting the banter thread but based on the Utd board.
I dunno, I don't think SAF quite matches Shankly or Paisley for wit, but then again the media and PC brigade seem to have driven most of the wit out of the mainstream media. If SAF had made a quote like Paisley's "This is the second time I've beaten the Germans, the first time was during the war" after the 99 final he'd have been accused of being racist. And if he copied Shankly's "Chairman Mao has never seen a greater show of red strength" quote he'd probably have started World War 3....
As much as I hate agreeing with you manc scum, you are very right. Compare Shankly's "If Everton were playing down the bottom of my garden, I'd draw the curtains" with Rafa's "Little club" jibe, and the moaning and fall out from that...
One reason and one reason only. KPR isn't on here stirring **** with his pathetic stories. Maybe the Liverpool fans may wake up and see he is the clown that starts all of the rubbish between the two sets of fans.
Man Urine aren't going to win the league and let me tell you why.Giggs is looking at 7 years in federal penitentiary after shagging some bird with big tits and making he kill the baby.He will go down as a Man Urine legend just like the 'Unholy Trinity' The wife beating alcholics and 'Shouldn't have been Sir' Bobby Charlton was so far up Best's arse he could tell what he had for breakfast. ...dear ****ing god how was this **** a moderator on your board?
Ha ha can i also add in his absence that Carrick is the worst player since that guy who said he was George Weah's brother or cousin can't remember which and blagged a contract at city, meaning Utd's whole team is a complete pile of ****. Also half their team will be in prison before the start of next weeks fixture including Fergie who will be in there for drunken disorderly. Finally Glazer is going to ruin the club so much that he will burn down old trafford and decapitate the holy trinity statue outside. Back on the original topic we're never going to totally agree about who was best between Shanks and Fergie, they are the sort of people you love if they represent your club and hate if they represent one of your rivals. On whether Fergies a nice guy who is misrepresented i don't know he seems a dick in press conferences but i don't know if this is down to the fact he finds the whole media circus irrelevant and a distraction from preparing the team. Also the thing that makes me think he's not all bad is that most of the people within football who have met him seem to have quite a good opinion of him even Carragher said he was one of the people he respects the most and even said he would rather he managed us that Mourinho. I'll just say i respect him for all he's won in the game as i'm sure some of you lot respect some of our best managers I'll never like him but i don't think any Liverpool fan ever could.
Shankly was an illeducated petty thief who is not fit to wipe a real man like fergusons boots. Shankly was just all hot air with zero substance
shankly lost 175 games as liverpool manager having played 753 games, he only won 393 of them Ferguson at united has lost only 246 in 1,394 games wining 826 of them I think that shows statistically ferguson is not only better, but massively superior, some say stats do not matter, but as well all know that is bollocks, stats are facts and facts win arguments
In fairness, Shankly had to take Liverpool from the bottom of division two to the top, whilst SAF only had to take Utd from the bottom of division one. So Shankly started from a worse position. Although it's interesting to note that Shankly went six seasons without a trophy from 1966 to 1972. I wonder, given what's happening at Arsenal at the moment, would he have survived that long and kept the support of the fans if he'd been managing in the modern era with all the media sniping?
Nice one Swarbs. Add to that Shanks took LFC from the depths of Division Two to the semi final of the European Cup within 6 years(lost by an away goal to Inter)and also brought our first FA Cup a year later,Sir Matts managerial record at the time of his retirement was(rightly)looked upon as fanastic as was Shankly's when he retired. Which brings the old "it was easier" to win trophies back then back into question. I know the terrible disaster that befell United played a massive part in Sir Matts trophy haul being as it was,and it was as hard if not harder to win trophies back then as it is today(imho).
Yes and fergies is already seen as better than Sir Matts. so again my point stands, fergie is simply better than shankly Fergie has moved with eras, shankly's teams never had any real threat, played the same, time and time again. Ferguson has had to move from the old school to the new school. He has seen off every competitor he has faced. Shankly lol
