Backing on to woods and fields we need to frequently examine our cats who seem to collect them for fun. Mrs Greensaint deals with it better than I, which is noted by the cats who present themselves to her if a really big one gets sucking away. 'Orrible things.

Yes , ours get them once in a while , just from sleeping in bushes I think .I tend to deal with it , but what damn purpose do they serve ? Vile , utterly Vile things .

The only one who I have never seen have a Tick is Toby , our cream British short hair , his coat is just SO dense .

I agree totally. We've got one of those hook things to get them out which works really well. I can understand why cases on people have increased as you only have to see the amount of people with shorts on walking through grass and woodland. Having been brought up near the New Forest we have always been aware trousers and socks were essential. I hate ticks!

I've got a pack of those as well, really useful for both animals and humans.

The USA is going to experience a total solar eclipse today. It'll be a long one, viewable from West to East coasts as it passes over between 18.16pm to 19.48pm [both UK times - 10.16 to 14.48 local]. The UK gets a tiny 4% partial eclipse at around 20.00pm, but even though the Sun sets at 20.15pm, we won't see anything. Because we're deep into Summer here so it must be Thick Cloud. Yes, that's the forecast, especially arranged for today so we don't see anything with the naked eye even if we could bother to stir ourselves to see a measely 4% disappear.

EDIT: I see I was somewhat late with the announcement [SiSerbia], but I did put a little detail in there.
