Feck...Henry doesn't like Souness and vice versa...its all little digs and looks... even when they are agreeing lol..

Tbf...Souness was great for us as a player but I wouldn't call him likeable lol

I played goal at school as a kid (because I was **** outfield lol) and got criticised constantly because my instinct was to save with my feet.

Understood it then maybe with the balls and pitches etc but now it's light whizzing balls...its the same old school "catch it" rather than punch it... he'll of lot harder to keep these balls in your hands or into body low than it used to be.

There is a reason why stiker are told to shoot between a keepers legs

Keepers are systematically taught and trained to get down fast over and over again.

If you try use your legs the ball cant be either side or you wont get it.

err the problem for the goalie is the shot along the ground close to them but either side as they cannot get down to it easily because it is close .see Lloris today for a classic example. Sometimes it will be tricky to use the leg required due to the weight distribution during movement.

Put it this way, if that was a defender on the line trying to block it, he'd have kicked it away no problem.

Keepers seem to think thet they must use hands at all costs

Keepers are taught to get body between ball and goal.

If he stuck a boot out and it just deflected the ball in he would also look stupid.

Simples. They always try get as much between goal and ball as possible.

But they let more in than save when it's right at them like that. See it so often compared to just sticking s boot to deflect it away like de Gea does

yeah, its instinct after 1000s upon 1000s of repetitions. if you schooled them to think maybe ishoulr do this or that then maybe they'd save less.. who knows.

They'll tear us a new one, first home game, they'll be on the front foot eager to impress, they'll be too good for us, simple as.

Surely Pickford keeping them out at one end and Rooney overhead shinning them in at the other?

Ron always got his tactics right in the away games to the big sides so you never know.

Reckon this has probably come a bit early for you though tbh so gotta fancy a comfortable home win.

Sure Wayne would love a goal there though <whistle>

We got a draw there last season and did them 4-0 at home, but I think they'll be a different proposition this time round. As for Ron in aways, that's the area he's got to significantly improve on this season if we're going to progress.

Was your away form not great last year then?

I was talking specifically about the big sides to be fair, never went into an away game against a top team fearing a hammering under him. Won twice at OT, once at WHL, once at Chelsea etc. in his two years here.

I'm still not convinced by City I just think this early in the season they'll be very hard to keep out espescially at the Etihad.
