On Sky, West Ham are willing to listen to offers for Andy Carroll. From a glue factory I presume. I am sorry for injury to any player (who isn't called Vardy), but Carroll would have to be dirt cheap or come with a large dowry as it would be a big risk to sign him. It's a shame because he still should have years left. On the bright side, West Ham will lose out.
On 606 a Newcastle fan was saying they should buy Carroll. Presumably he thinks the air on Tyneside would heal the player faster.
Unfortunately for Newcastle, even if Carroll could only manage 15 games, he'd still probably outscore any of their current strikers. If I'm Rafa, I give it another 11 days and if little has changed, I walk away.
Personally I think Carroll should go back to Liverpool, as he still owes them about £20 million of the £35 million they paid for him. Can't decide whether to use blue writing or not...
I do hope Liverpool follow suit though, and repeat the Torres-Carroll affair again. Get £140m for Coutinho on deadline day, and spend £100m of it on Troy Deeney.
Man, that is cutting to the bone. What have Liverpool ever done to you? I was thinking £89m for Ian Ormanroyd...
I think Carroll is a good player. Is a good player, just a shame he's made of lollipop sticks and glue.
Could have had a good England career if he could stay fit. Austin is a bit like that....we knew about his dodgy knee, but that regular shoulder popping came as a surprise to me. Hopefully, the op fixed that....though shoulder ops are notoriously unreliable.
I struggle with a shoulder that likes to dislocate from time to time. Luckily I can still play golf with it, talking of which I saw JWP at Cams Hall this afternoon.
Oh absolutely. I have always said that if he wasn't so injury prone, I would happily have him at Saints. And equally, if England go into a summer tournament when he's not injured, he'd be in my 23 man squad. A proper Plan B (or C). But a regularly fit Carroll simply does not exist. Other than on a pay-as-you-play deal (and why would Carroll want to give up a full-time contract for that?), I can't believe that Newcastle would actually be interested.
Few rumours that City have met Messi's representatives and are willing to meet the buyout clause of his contract
It's going to get worse before it gets better (if it ever gets better). I see BT were trying to buy the rights to the football league meaning Sky had to outbid them and make a £180m offer for the rights for the next couple of seasons, gives Champ clubs a boat load of cash aswell.
Suddenly realised that Carroll wasn't playing against us on Saturday. He's been out injured so many times and for so long that he doesn't automatically register as a current footballer to me.
Former Liverpool captain Ronnie Whelan has criticised the transfer business done by the club this summer. Writing in the Irish Independent, Whelan says: "Set against the business Manchester United and Manchester City have done, Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp look like amateurs. "Worse, Ronald Koeman and Everton have been spending like they’ve found a money tree. "He [Klopp] has some gaping holes in his squad and by the looks of things, no more money to spend unless they take Barcelona’s offer for Philippe Coutinho." (Sky) Someone seems to have sent him the wrong script.
I see Newcastle are being linked with Dennis Praet of Sampdoria.I remember we were linked with him when he was Anderlecht. Very handy ACM who I like the look of - now who can I think of that needs one of them???
