Only caught the second half as I was heading back from Wales. Familiar story for us having most of the ball and pressure but Chelsea being more clinical. Lloris has had an absolute shocker for the winner. No need to panic though, we've got incomings that can give us more options and Chelsea were the last team we'd want to have for our Wembley opener. Crossing needs to improve though, too many into "good" areas but with the numbers Chelsea had back we needed to be picking out a man.
What I don't understand is why he's never subbed in these situations. It's always Dier. Anyone watching that game could see Victor was all over the shop. Poor decision by Poch.
Dele was anonymous today too. It baffles me how some fans don't think there's room for competition in the "3". A poor performance, or a spell of poor form for a period of time (Eriksen for the first 2 months of last season) and/or an injury, and we go from a major threat to having real problems in attack.
Imo I thought Spurs would win today but you were playing against a new format of 1-9-1 - so hard to break down.
In his defence, he has come here straight after watching the latest ArsenalFanTV instalments (and there were a lot yesterday) .
Someone with more to offer than Sissoko? That's the job of our scouts who found players like Dele. I realise no one's been signed yet. But for me, that should have been the priority position in the window.
I'm gutted like the rest of you but I don't think it was a **** performance. We just don't seem to get the rub of the green against Chelsea in general. I knew that free kick would go in. They always seem to score great free kicks against us at Wembley; Drogba, Willian and now Alonso. Then Lloris and wanyama making errors that they don't usually make. It should have been a draw at the very least if not we should have nicked it. It was inches at the end between winning and losing as if wanyama had made the ball out wide we may have got the late winner. At least we went for it. Badly need to get 3 points next week and then things won't look so bad.
Why bring sissoko on ffs he's the last player we need to come on.I remember taxi for maicon but sissoko don't make me laugh
Not good but not bad as there were some good moves played. Morata should have scored, Willian hit the post and they scored two so we were let off there. So Burnley beat Chelsea, Chelsea beat Spurs so Spurs beat Burnley 3-1 next week.
Can't help but feel there's a series of tragedies waiting to happen this season. Could set us back years.
