I hope we don't lose Rose yet, too. But after his comments, I felt that there may be no turning back. There's been rumors that he's had a heart to heart conversation with Poch, but I'm still not convinced. There's several players we are strongly linked with, as we all know. But I have a feeling that there could be a chain of events right at the end of the window that provide one or two more surprising incomings or departures. I certainly don't think it's going to be as straight forward as Barkley, Foyth, Aurier & co coming, and Sissoko & Wimmer leaving. Just my opinion.
The Times are apparently saying that the Chavs are enquiring about Toby. How strange that they should do that just before we play them. What a bunch of lowlife ****s
Martial looks a great prospect but I'd be surprised if he swapped Utd's bench for ours. Especially as we probably can't match/ better the wages he's likely to be on. Sessegnon - yes please! Last LB we signed from the championship didn't turn out too bad.
The thing that worries me about Ryan is that he only broke into Fulham's first team last January. Before then it was largely substitute and cup appearances. And yes, the fact that he was voted into the Champ PFA TOTY despite starting no more than 15 league games is the strongest possible reflection of just how much talent the boy has, I'd still much prefer it to be a buy-to-loan back deal. As much as I think it's now a matter of 'when' rather than 'if' for DOF Danny, I cannot stomach the thought of strengthening 2 main rivals in one window. Even a swap deal for Martial doesn't excite me. The guy is clearly a misused talent but has shown nothing in 2 seasons to convince me that he is worth anywhere near the £60m price tag they've apparently slapped on him. He would cost a fortune in fees and wages and tbh is he really any better off the bench than Son? Broken record time, but for me an ideal close to the window remains: Buy Sessegnon and loan him back for a season. Make an agreement with Rose that he can leave next summer IF he gives 100% this year (worked with Modric). Buy this Diop fellow to strengthen the midfield. Ignore Barkley until January now. No point buying an injured player. Let Everton pay his medical fees. Sell Sissoko to be used as a store window dummy at Barnardos. Instead of blowing £60m on an AM (which I STILL don't think we need), try to upgrade Janssen to give Kane proper cover.
I think if we do sign Sessegnon, then he'll be used in various roles and get a decent amount of game time. It wouldn't surprise me if he was our inevitable winger signing of the season, if it does happen. Could see N'Koudou return to France.
Back before he moved to Utd, French media were labelling Martial as the next Thierry Henry (as they did with any young, skilful striker) so maybe IF our interest in him is real, Poch may seem him as someone to compete with Kane rather than someone to compete with Alli, Eriksen, Son and Lamela. The latter doesn't make much sense to me because I'd genuinely choose all four over him (providing Lamela can regain form pre-injury) but having him challenge Kane would be interesting due to the two's completely different styles. Still think it won't happen though so it's a non-starter really.
I'd add a right back to the list. I'm glad KWP can get games, but I'd like us to be strong in many competitions this season. Kane needs cover so much it's scary. All this defensive reinforcement, as much as it is welcomed, doesn't add goals to the team. With Lamela injured we also lack something when Eriksen is out. Dare I say, I think we are going to need Sissoko's athleticism as a cover when seeing games out.
Apparently the Chavs have made an enquiry about Alderweireld. It's a deliberate attempt to unsettle him and the team, imo. They know damn well that Levy would never sell him to them.
I really hope we sign Sessegnon, this kid is special, as in Dele Alli special. As others have mentioned he will get game time this season (if he signs) due to the fact he can play in 2 or 3 positions. This is in keeping with our current model at the moment buy young, develop them and turn them into stars. We know one or two of them will leave in the future for bigger or better wage paying clubs and this will be our stance until we pay most of the debt of the new stadium. Then we will be able to pay top wages and keep our star players. Im probably one of the few that dosent want Aurier, although clearly very talented he could be disruptive in our squad, I just cant see him being happy being rotated for the big games. Im a huge fan of KWP and im convinced he will be a top player. Trippier being first choice with KWP as his understudy is a perfect scenario for me. If Foyth signs he is another for the future, probably getting a year to settle in and play the odd cup game. If we can then add a versatile CM/AM like Barkley or Diop then that will be a fantastic window for us.
We should retaliate with a lowball offer for Costa, as that would guarantee he kicks up yet another stink.
Misunderstood genius. Quality player and a thoroughly decent bloke. Just the type of guy you'd want your daughter to bring home for sunday roast. RCL will be absolutely devastated.
I went to Wembley, saw us lose there (again) to bloody Chelsea (again) to a very late goal. Then had to queue up in the rain to get into the bloody tube staion for an hour and didn't get home until 8.30. Is that not enough of a piss poor day without you rehashing this lie about me wanting us to sign Nasri?
I read on NewsNow that a bid for Barkley is expected this week of £20 mill plus £8 mill add ons. Because he's injured the price has reduced. I thought after Sunday that we actually should get him in because he's the top signing we need.
Personally think he will be a bit Sissoko esque. He has done next to nothing for the past 18 months or so. But buying him after he has had an operation and will be out injured until November makes little to no sense to me.
