A friend of mine watched that live and said the other pundits gave Poll all kinds of grief after he said it was a foul, but he wouldn't have given it.

I believe Pathé News are also making a newsreel about this rare, historic occurrence.

 

But refs are asked to give their opinions...things aren't always clear cut. Ball to hand, hand to ball? A player can kick another player...accidently or deliberate? The ref uses experience and gives an opinion.

 

As a side issue....some think we should have got a penalty against Swansea....so we deserve it.

 

It takes some nerve for Noble to tweet that the supporters did not deserve the last minute decision when he should have been off the pitch and heading for a 3 game ban

 

As Poll said, the ref didn't see Noble total a player.

 

Pretty good game ... very entertaining and although we eased off the gas a little 2nd half, we fully deserved the win.

Always nice to beat West Ham.

Even nicer given that it was a late winner.

Even nicer still given that it was Charlie who got it. No ligaments or something, wasn't it Gold and Sullivan?

Even nicer still given that West Ham tried to delay the taking of the penalty for as long as possible. (Had Charlie missed, I wouldn't have been surprised if Mason would have picked up on something like Hart coming off his line, or a Hammer encroaching into the box, to allow us to retake)

 

That Poll video is a shambles. He is rambling and talking nonsense. A foul in the penalty area but not a penalty?!

Didn't have to watch it live, just look at the video link. Yes they give him all sorts of grief. As soon as Graham Poll said 'technically, it was a foul' he was sunk.

 

Agree to a certain extent, but the rules are written to allow for that.
So the rule asks if the handball was deliberate? However, if you impede an opponent by kicking or pushing then it doesn't matter if you meant it or not. It's a foul

 

By the way, Fran, if you read this - how was the reunion with the old flame.? Did any stewards or police have to intervene.? I mean, keeping you and Jose apart.?

 

I did wonder about the lack of police in the away section today ... I expect all stationed around Fran

 

I was watching the game from the States and I must of had a bad stream because the Davis I saw passed side ways or backwards and when receiving the ball on the attack got to the half way line and stopped and allowed WH back in numbers. We need a AM that actually does that, Attack. JWP should have been on the pitch from the start and either Davis or Redmond on the bench. As has been mentioned above, we are so static going forward, I miss the days of the MP sides, when we got the ball from defense we attacked with pace in numbers. We won today but on another day against a good team we will struggle.

 

I don't think that Fran was at the game - the restraining order stopped her from going...

 

Agree, classic full back performance apart from his nudged Maya in the back and a def penalty.

At 3-2 they weren't so noisy.
