Lettuce. I never said it wasn't true. It just doesn't have anything to do with the thread and as someone commented, is designed to get a rise.

Can you name a journo / commentator / pundit who isn't?

I wasn't aware that Pep Guardiola was an LMA lapdog?

More a case of society abandoning socialist principles. Bob Crowe currently earns £150k a year and saves £80k by living in his subsidised council house. Hard to imagine Arthur Scargill ever trying to pull that off. And weren't the notionally "socialist" Labour MPs some of the worst ones for buying antique furniture on their parliamentary living allowance? No one's a true socialist any more if they can get near the gravy train.

That's true. The quality of genuine wit in the game has dropped sharply since Bill and Bob were around. Probably cos most journos are too busy either kissing arse or sticking the knife in to ever give managers credit for it.

Is it true that Shankly in 1951 was interviewed for the vacant Liverpool job and moved to manage Grimsby Town after failing to get it?

But yeah he is always ungracious in defeat and never offers support or advice to anyone <doh> Just because he acts a certain way infront of the media (which is part of what makes him successful) doesn't mean that he is a nasty person in real life.

The funny thing is Ferguson is only ever disrespectful towards the media. The irony is everybody hates the media yet rival fans get their backs up when he goes on a tirade against some journalist or whatever. Opposition managers have nothing but respect and admiration for Ferguson, people say they ring him for advice or he will ring them and help them through a tough time. The only people who call him are the media or rival fans.

Also imagine the hell KPR is going through seeing this on the Liverpool board with his name on it but he can't access it <laugh>

Personally though and I probably speak for all United fans not only has he brought us success we are likely to never see again in our lives but the fact that Liverpool fans absolutely despise him, makes me love him so much more.

    Nobody hates a loser.

Don't talk about Rooney like that...

I'm 90% sure that's true. Busby also turned Liverpool down to manage United. Two things we can be very grateful for <ok>

I'm getting increasingly worried about you. The humour seems to have gone and you seem to be reverting to 'type'. Have you bought either of those books I recommended to you and I don't mean the ones on the top shelf in my private message......................:embarrassed:

Your concern is touching, but I wasn't going for humour. If Busby had decided to manage Liverpool I think our club's history would have been very different. That said, we may have ended up with Shankly instead and thus we'd be the ones arguing for Shanks over Busby.

What's so important about having wit when you're one of if not the most successful manager Britain has seen?

    Seems kinda irrelevant to me.
