There have been various times when for differing reasons during the past 46 years supporting our team that I have consciously made the decision not to go to games.

Sometimes that's been because the football has been so dire, other times as a personal protest as to how the club is being run or owned.

This most definitely makes me one of the 20,000 referred to. We all have a choice of how to spend our free time and in my opinion shouldn't be criticized for exercising that choice. I would imagine most absent fans will have been similar to me in that they retain an obsessive interest in the club.

Following a football club is not an addiction...you don't have to go to the matches.

It's a choice always has been and always will be.

As has been said earlier, Billy, your post has been elicited by a misunderstanding, but nevertheless, it was good to read, as was Shak's, & served as a reminder to those that need reminding. Love the boiling passion that drove both responses. :D

    One other point.

When someone posts on here I never consider whether they attend or don't attend matches as a factor in their level of support. If it's a match report then yes it's relevant but still interesting to read their views never the less.

Sunderland fan in peace living down Leeds, hope we get a good result against you boys today as work will be hell on Monday!! May the best team win.....I just hope we are the best team!! Just going on the above attending games, I used to be a season ticket holder but family commitments meant I had to give it up but it was made a lot easier based on how we have played the last 10 seasons.

    Afternoon all. Things to consider:
    • There are goals elsewhere in the team (Alioski, Saiz, Ekuban) this year so we are not as reliant on Chris.
    • Good job, as he was always unlikely to repeat last season's heroics this year.
    • Bringing in goalscorers and changing the formation moved focus away from Chris to a degree.
    • This may all have been a factor in his moving on - if the goal scoring duties are spread about more, Chris scores fewer and his perceived value drops.
    • Radz saw this in advance and knew he might move, so should have a plan B in place.
    • The new boys better knock a few in pronto
    • Antonsson must be mighty pissed off.
I think Chris's absence may prove less pivotal than some fear, but we'll actually never know - he could stay at Leeds and have a kak year. Personally, I think we'll still be competing come April/May, but we need some real leadership on the field in a hurry.

    Whatever, MOT. <ok>

Not so good at going for headers with CBs that are a foot taller than him, though! :D

Anyone feel sorry for Swansea yet, poor Kyle Bartley. However they were only 1 down when Bartley was subbed in 67th minute they then conceded another 3. Expect to see us swap places in April

So big Mick at Ipswich a club with no cash could still be top of the league with Waghorn scoring his 3rd goal in 3 matches. Watch him be leagues top scorer this season & transferring to Burnley next season
