Firstly I'm not bothered what happens with this lad mate, I don't think he's all that anyway, as he's not consistent enough and is easily deterred if the game gets a bit fruity. Even at the 'basic' £80m I think he's way over priced. I don't know enough about Barcas finances to pass comment on what their current status with the bank may or not be, but they did make a €29m profit after tax in their last accounts, so the view that their on their arse is probably wishful thinking. Most big transfers on the continent are paid instalments but the bid they've put on the table looks a pisstake in that regard given that you don't want to sell.

On the instalments. I'm guessing that we would finance any deals we had by either structuring the payments in a similar way or leveraging the Barcelona debt which obviously has a cost. Should we sell him, I guess it also serves our purpose to let others know that we don't have a big wedge of cash.
