I was there on Wednesday and we were happy to allow them to have the ball in their half.

Same at Norwich where they had around 70% possession but neither them or Sheff Wed did much with it.

I'd expect us to have more than 50% tomorrow and take the game to Leeds with two up front.

I can't see there being more than 1 goal in it tbh ..... a lot depends on whether Woods is sold.

Will be interesting to see how that pans out then. Last season our weakness was slow possession across the back line leading to nothing, but there were signs on Tuesday that we may have found a way of creating space and being able to pass through the thirds, or be a little more direct up to Wood and have runners to pick up his lay offs.

Wood will definitely play tomorrow but I expect him to move on before the international break.

Well that was all entertaining from a hot & sticky Spain. One thing, who cares why we are fans of the team we follow, are we saying we all have to support a team by a quirk of nature of where we were born? People leave these places sometimes at a young age. Either way, agent Grayson, a true Leeds fan NEVER allows his teams to beat Leeds. Good luck smug :emoticon-0145-shake :emoticon-0105-wink:

    Because it's relevant.

I have no respect for people from Bournemouth who just decide they're Man Utd supporters or Brits who suddenly 'support' Barcelona.

I support my club because my family did and we're all from the NE, I've passed that down to my sons and now they're doing the same.

Stories of my uncles are passed down, relatives who played for the club always mentioned and connections to young players, coming through the ranks. are applauded. People, from your own area, who you see at games year after year, are friends and they all know people you know etc. Simply picking a club, out of a hat, doesn't ever compare to that feeling of belonging to an area, a club and a family.

Sorry but it's true and I'll never see it any differently ... the fact you say Grayson is a 'true Leeds fan' confirms what I've just said ;)

Times do and have changed. I'm not saying for the better but TV, advertising and commecial interests are top of a clubs agenda not just a local catchment. So like it or not clubs have to make themselves appealing to a macro not a micro audience. Notice I say audience and not supporters. Supporters go through good and bad times an audience wanes with lack of club success.

It's not looking likely tbh, it's going to be a long day for you waiting for an announcement.

Word is he's with the Leeds squad though so who knows.

This is football now and players are increasingly dictating matters, clubs are losing control.

I don't have 'heroes' any more, the vast majority are just mercenary badge kissers ..... I support the shirt, the club and my fellow supporters.

Who's inside the shirt means little to me these days.

I'll answer this with facts mate.

Sunderland if anything is annover supported club, we are a small city with a population roughly a third of Leeds.

As with most clubs we have a 'hardcore' following which is probably around 24,000. That is those of us that renew year on year, go and stay even through the abstract ****, don't boo the lads after 10 minutes and make scapegoats of players.

The ground was extended too quickly in the Reid years, partially I understand as we had an agreement with the company that built it that it would be done at a reduced cost in the first 5 years. We have the attendance ****e all the time from Toon fans and it's bollocks from them as well.

We've not won a trophy since 73 and the vast majority have not seen us competing in our lifetimes, then the last 4 years have been relegation battles, despite in all of those seasons having players that should have been capable of mid table finishes.

The team has played with no heart or desire and that's sucked the life out of many fans, the attendance was about what we all expected and predicted, and was still a huge crowd for the championship.

We are growin in belief in Grayson, one of your own, he's a proper football man, he's not glamourous, he's no nonesence and he seems to understand that we want to see a competitive team with some pride in the very famous shirts, that reflects the hard working and pride filled nature of the region, that isn't the most affluent but has a lot of heart and positives.

The fans will gradually return, 24,000 or so will always remain and gates will rarely be far below the 30k mark. It was Friday, it was live on Sky, it was in the first 2 weeks of the kids holidays and we'd just had a very poor season and a turbulent summer when we didn't get a manager in until the last month.

Our clubs support is outstanding, we take thousands to every away ground and are welcomed and praised in most cities, likewise away fans are welcomed in 99% of boozers in Sunderland, bought drinks, invited to join us in groups.

Criticism of the support is without education, the club has had and continues to have many, many flaws, the support isn't one though, both north east clubs support isbutterly magnificent, and one lower than usual but far above 95% of the whole football league including Prem attendance doesn't knock that in the slightest.

It's natchday now, let's focus on that. For any Leeds fans travelling, you'll know from the past there's sometimes a bit of needle between us 2 but there's always a lot of respect, and I hope today's defeat doesn't knock you too much and you can compete with us for that play off place ;)

These are just 'Sky Sports' terms that mean little to people in the NE tbh.

Sunderland supporters regularly sang about being Geordies until very recently.

It's ironically quite funny when Southerners use them and think they're being amusing.

Wood is with the squad at a NE hotel but expected to be driving to Burnley this morning for a medical. Cant see him starting today so Ekuban is the man. Saiz can play up front so expect to see him behind Ekuban

Before the bitterness set in the relative success of last year was put down to three things by the easily pleased happy clappies.

    1. The Monk/pep/beattie management team
    2. Chris Wood
    3. The above being something to build on for the future

Somebody said it was all built on sand.

With Wood currently driving down the A59 between Harrogate and Skipton on route to his Burnley medical I wonder who was right.

Neither does Sacko, word is Leeds are putting a homing beacon on him....:emoticon-0105-wink:
If we start scoring multiple goals without Wood it will tell a story, although this particular game may tight as well.....:emoticon-0148-yes:
