I was hoping they'd be able to take enough out to leave us relatively debt free. Sounds as if we're just swapping out owners but leaving the debt relatively high.
The parachute payments would be known to both parties, as would the release schedule of those staged payments. The asset value of the "club/business" is a floating number, primarily based on the player in/out activity between now and the handover date. A major factor in an agreed "price" is likely to depend heavily on the clubs "position in the league" at the final hand-over date viz- are they looking like they have a chance of promotion (automatic, playoffs) or do they look to be exposed to relegation ? There will likely be get-out clauses for both parties based on the situation as it develops. Hardly surprising this is not widely reported in the press etc. The "agreement in principle", if it actually does exist, has a lot of hurdles to overcome. That's not even considering the F&P analysis by the governing bodies. Of course, the whims of the clubs owners are also a wild card. Funny old business this football ownership. I'm sure he'll have his weaknesses, and the inevitable detractors, but from what I've seen of him (interviews etc), he seems a genuinely honest, enthusiastic and reasonably experienced football man, who is willing to recognize his mistakes & try to rectify them. His biggest problem right now is he has his hands tied behind his back.

There is sometimes in the value of companies a figure quoted for goodwill. Wonder how high that will be in a business owned by the Allams?
I don't like him but I don't dislike him either. I've met him more than 200 times, he's alright on his own but a sychophant when with others. He's also one of those who deliberately talks really loudly so everyone in a room has to hear his oh so valued opinion.

I can find no details on how the parachute payments are made, but as Premier League money comes in staged payments, I assume the same is true of the parachute payments. The Macquarie loan arrangements may we'll give them access to all the parachute money in one go, or allow them to switch Allamhouse debt to Macquarie debt, allowing them to effectively walk away with all their money, without a significant purchase price having to be paid at all. There's far too many variables for any of us to actually guess what sort of deal will be done, we'll just have to wait and see.
