I'm thinking he's more suited to ripping the head off a live python and beating Merse to death with the bloody end. Now that'd be some introduction!
If they get the medical done over the weekend and the work permit sorted, he'll be able to play instead of Cahill who is suspended.
Over the moon with this signing. Obviously you never know how a player will settle into a new club, new country etc but we have bought a player who has everything to be one of the best defenders in the game. Pace, power agression, ability on the ball, threat in oppo's box - he has it all and he will have the perfect people around him in Poch, Toby and Jan to develop and improve his game. Very strong rumours this afternoon that Foyth is in fact coming to spurs too after it seemed he was destined for PSG. Looks an excellent prospect, he lacks physicality but he is technically excellent. One for the future and he will probably be given a season to settle in and maybe get the odd cup apperance. Wimmer looks destined to leave and if Foyth does indeed arrive then CCV will probably be loaned out (or at least i hope he does). With Sanchez and potentially Foyth in, it certainly looks like we will be predominantly lining up in a 3-4-2-1, with Dier alternating between CB and DM. We just need an attacking midfielder now - Draxler or Denis Suarez will do very nicely indeed...............
There's been some crackers. When Liverpool signed their most recent goalkeeper he said: "Loris Karius is something Tottenham defenders have been saying for years" Genius.
So is wimmer a gonner? And decided that CCV isn't good enough? Therefore Foyth becomes quality cover? Or are we worried that Toby won't sign a new deal, and are preparing for that eventuality? I know we needed to strentghen a few areas, but I'm surprised that a £42m CB has been the first one through the door. IMO, it's the one position that cover was the least priority. Hopefully we're adding some of the same sort of talent further up the pitch.
I'd say Sanchez's arrival has practically confirmed Wimmer's departure. A shame as Kev looked great in his debut season but seemingly couldn't kick on (although didn't get much of a chance last season). My guessing is that we're looking to go three at the back on a permanent basis. So once Sanchez has settled, he'll join Jan and Toby there, while Eric goes back up to DM and competes with Wanyama, Dembele and Winks. Therefore going after Foyth means that we'll have him and CCV in reserve for the back three, along with Dier if we need to drop him back.
I imagine that with the larger pitch it may also mean we'll see defenders being substituted a lot more in order to maintain the high, pressing game for the full 90.
