If we had 3 star strikers, there'd be offers coming in left, right, and centre. But we haven't, and there isn't
I'd call Abel a star striker with Campbell a very good strike partner. Now Abel's injured, we need another.
First off I never said we have 3, we have Campbell and Hernandez both who are top strikers at this level. Come on how many clubs have a single striker that's as good (and costly) as either of them let alone two?
Hernandez was 10 million when we were in the premier League, we've been relegated twice and yet he is still with us in the last year of his contract, one could say if he was any good we would have sold him. Campbell as costly as a free transfer.
Whatever one's views on Abel, you make a good point that no one bigger than us have ever come in for him. He used to beg for a move to Torino but they never bothered. Villa came knocking last season, as a Championship side, but baulked at his wage demands. Clearly he is better than 'any good' but even assuming he was fit, I really don't think we have one of the best strike forces in the division. Not by a long shot.
Warnock’s a proven bullshitter – he’s basically trying to fight back, after we've started unsettling one of his players, by unsettling City fans (he’ll be well aware of the situ). Our owners are ****s – but don’t fall for it. Over the years, he’s said all sorts about City. The only times I recall anything positive was when we handed him his arse back (v Leeds in 2012) and even then his praise of us was just an attempt to camouflage how **** his team were (TWS fans hated him at the time). It’s all gamesmanship/mind games but it’s always so blatant with him – you’d have to be stupid to believe it. And even if it was true, why give him the satisfaction? We know what are our owners are anyway. Send back it back to him unopened and let's bid again for Zohore - then pull out late on if need be.
Have you actually heard the interview, or just read the comments? I'm assuming it's the latter, as having heard him, I don't think we've bid.
Not many goal scorers of Campbell's ability available for free. Bet he's costing us a good wage. Aston Villa bid £20m for Hernandez, he's obviously good, he scored 20 goals last time he played at this level, just look at the fees clubs demand for a player who achieves anything like that - McCormack, Rhodes, Kodija, Hogan, what Cardiff want for Zohore... There's a reason these scorers don't move about so much and that's because they cost so much. It's unrealistic IMO to expect to go out and spend £10M+ on a striker when we're a championship club and already have one on our books who we'll be paying in surplus of £30k a week. The same people who whinge about the Allam debt are the same people who whinge we're not making it bigger, in short complete ****ing tools.
If we go out and spend a **** tonne of money on a third as you want us to then we would have three. This is like trying to explain something to patty <smirk>
