Leeds have offered Chris Wood a three year contract extension ... Radz has shown his intent, now we wait to see if Wood accepts ... this will be a serious wage bump and include another fat bump when promoted ... Leeds are saying to Wood, "you are our future, we want you here for the next five years ... sign, let's kill all these rumours, focus on goals now"

nervous time for Leeds fans, but knowing Wood's track record as a person I feel he will commit to Leeds as it's a great club for him ... this offer means there are probably other clubs after him besides Burnley, and if he doesn't accept the Leeds deal then he will probably go before the window shuts

I predicted this a few days back but didn’t take a genius to predict it. Hope this doesn’t drag out and Wood signs before tomorrow’s game. Would be a colossal statement of intent by all parties. Fingers crossed

If he signs a new contract, what happens to his transfer value?
Are contracts worth the paper they are written on?
Is there more than one possible reason to get a new contract signed?

Chippy asks a good question. New contract means a higher wage immediatley, it also adds value to the players value, although £16m with a year to run is probably a decent price now. It soes however mean that Wood along with most of the squad are all on long term contracts so not easy to steal unless clubs valuation realised.

Wood has West Ham, WBA, Brighton as well as Burnley interested but there are stories that a French side, Italian & Turkish side are all asking the question.

If he signs a new contract,he's accepting he's going nowhere this window, and the same Jan unless we are out of the promotion picture.

as Ell posted, he has TWO years left on his deal, and Leeds want him to extend it to July 2022 ... this is the right move for the club, and Wood has the opportunity to earn a serious wage at a big club where he is settled and happy ... if it was Liverpool or Spurs in for him you'd worry, but Burnley is not the club Wood can be a legendary striker at ... as it stands with 2 years left on his current contract £20m plus is the number just to get in front of Radz and open talks

Contracts aren't worth the paper there written on you are correct. But it would guarantee he's here this season.

I would put a fiver on it, but I'm still waiting on the last one ;)

Rad said the same with Monk just before he fooked off its what chairmen do to soften the blow to the fans make it look like they tried their best (well only those daft enough not to see through it )
wave him goodbye wish him luck <ok>

If this is a wind-up, Mighty, you're too late! :D

Oddly enough, I was worryingly thinking that might be the case myself. I would have expected that offer to be on the table long ago. Every other player that's staying now has a new 3 or 4 year contract signed.

It's more of a concern than an encouragement for me.

You're spot on Mighty.

Otherwise why publicize the fact he's been offered a new contract.

If he signs, fans want to hope he's regularly on song, or it can be an expensive mistake....:emoticon-0148-yes:

Wood set to snub Leeds ext offer.

Got to admit this is not how they have done the other contracts.perhaps this is the a take it or leave it offer and if not he goes.
can't hang around waiting anymore.he needs to say yes or no and then the club can make plans.
i thought his effort at a shot against Preston was piss poor.was right in front of me and my mate who's a regular does not rate him.
if he goes we need better not another like for like replacement.let's see if he plays tomorrow .but an announcement is needed quicklyi suspect this offer has been on the table for longer than we know.
