Hi Wiz, seems you can't say much these days mate.

Lansdown has foolishly employed a man totally unqualified who has divided our club.
Some are jumped on who disagree with with Lansdown's judgement but we are allowed to comment - aren't we ?
Below is a comment from OTIB which pretty well sums it up.

'Our fan base is split. A lot of people are bought into Johnson, a lot won't have him and im definitely on that side of the fence.
It won't unite until Johnson goes, too many fans are too far gone from being able to accept him anymore.
We can do better than him, we should be doing better than him, if he is the best we can attract I despair, we are never going to push on to the next level with him in charge.
I will support the team no matter what but i think we deserve better, and he is the weak link'.

He did comment, I respectfully disagreed and succinctly made my counter-argument. That's part of what a forum's for.

I also doubt whether LJ will ultimately be a success (I called for him to be sacked after we lost 3-2 against Cardiff last year), but I try to be balanced when making criticisms. After the four matches we've played so far, we've performed well in three of them, and even earned a point in the one we played badly. Four points in the league is probably just about par for what I'd expect at this stage, so I'd give the side a C grade - nothing to get hysterical about, but not cause for significant criticism either.

If you disagree, then fine. From the off, I thought LJ would be more open to criticism than others, on the back of how much he divided fans as a player, and so it's proven to be. In his favour, I think his points return at this level compares favourably to other managers we've had, but perhaps with the resources at his disposal, other might have done better. I think if we suffer a run of form as bad as last season then he should go, but at this moment in time, I don't think there's much to be gained from getting rid. I think we should be aiming to have a side capable of mounting a promotion challenge within maybe two years, and couldn't care much who was manager in order to achieve that.

    Agree with this.

What I'll never understand is Lansdown employing him in the first place.
Forget his lack of experience but everyone on the planet Bristol knew of his history while playing for his father.
He no more justified playing as he now does managing.
    Lansdown has divided Bristol City.

We'll dick Millwall but it will end in tears, just a matter of time.

Not being able to understand why Lansdown hired him in the first place has long been the question from a lot of our posters including me. Understanding Lansdown at all is an even bigger question and when you hide it behind corporate waffle and buzzwords then it becomes like a maze of contradiction. Who knows, but as long as we still care enough to voice our opinions then everything will turn out fine - I think.

Wise words indeed.. this is my worry for the season, LJ just does not display the ability to adjust and construct a plan B in play. its all planned in advance and if it doesn't work he doesn't have a clue where to go!!

Thats what I am seeing anyway.

This is a perceived failing of many managers by their fans, including Steve Cotterill befor LJ, who was a 'qualified' coach and yet still failed. Too many wanted LJ to fail from the get go and couldn't wait to jump on the bandwagon when things got tough last season. I too felt he should have gone, but I never indulged in the personal insults and unlike the vast majority I wanted him to pull through.
It would have been easy (and possibly correct) for SL to have sacked LJ and cowed to the fans, but he didn't and I applaud that, not because it was LJ, but because clubs shouldn't be dictated to by fans or players. Fans should have their say for sure, but ultimately the Chairman has the final say, if you don't like that then stop supporting any sporting club as that won't change.

So are you suggesting Newcastle fans should pack it up because Ashley calls the shots, or Blackburn because of the Venkys? etc.

Yea, thats it lets give in because we don't agree with the chairman!

I will defend LJ where I see fit, but at the moment I'm sliding off that fence very quickly. I saw a great first half against Barnsley and a downbeat second half.
From what I'm reading the same was against Birmingham. Brentford we went ahead and looked like we had a hot potatoe not knowing what to do. Followed but what must of been worse for people who went there but reading comments and twitter feed, the game sounded boring.

I wanted Johnson to change us, but at the moment I'm just not seeing it. All I'm seeing is another season of relegation fight and Swedish players avoiding our club like the plague.

(Also wanted him to change us to hear Redprint say at least one thing nice ;) )
