GOT is just a fad like harry potter was IMO. Started of good but now people watch it as to miss it means **** all to talk about around the photocopier Worst thing is the stars from the show are in everything and spoiling it. The ginger bint as jean grey, for example, that's that character ****ed.
They are hard to compare though with The Wire based in reality and GOT complete fantasy. The whole magnificence of GOT make it the most spectacular TV ever, the factual storyline, harsh reality and acting of The Wire would make it a huge contender for the best TV ever. It's going to go to the individual.
You should have just watched Lord Of The Rings which i bet the producer of GOT was influenced by, whether he admits it or not, just sexed it up because he knows that two bob trick works all the time
True. I watched the first season of GOT and thought to myself 'I really don't think I can do this' I just knew it was going to be long and drawn out. Whereas I've watched all 5 seasons of The Wire about 7 times in total. Much more my cup of tea.
I'm currently watching Better Call Saul. Only on S2 E2 but getting good, very good. Not Breaking bad good, but good.
I was the opposite with GOT. I had the first book and thought season one was sensational and couldn't wait to see what was happening, I also have a TV/movie mad little bro who I watch things for so we can discuss (he is almost 20 years younger) so did if for him But then it just became tedious, last season I didn't even bother with the ending and not watched any of the new series
Not watched BCS yet. Heard it was a slow burner. Need to at some point Thing with some of these shows is they go on too long or spoil the endings. I thing BB went on a little too long, great as it was and something like dexter the ending killed the whole show for me The wire though I enjoyed all the way and possibly the sheild, not sure about the latter in the end
I heard it's decent..its on my list...i need a push sometimes with this stuff as you know. I think British crime dramas are brilliant, not all but a few...just finished watching 'The Loch' set in Scotland, 6 part drama...was nice and twisty
It keeps getting better as he slowly morphs into the character we know, the acting is better then BB and the way it is filmed is also superb Vince Gilligan has honed those skills during BB.
Dragons, white snowy zombie motherfuckers and I got told the other day there's an army in which all men have their cocks cut off at birth... ****ing leave me out. Vikings pisses all over it. Give me historical violence and great story-lines involving Ragnar Lothbrok and his Sons any day of the week.
Most of season 1 of BCS is very slow. But it picks up on the last episode and it's when you realise the rest of it will be very good. I gave up once before after about 5 episodes but Luv and a few others persuaded me to start again, glad I did. Nothing beats or comes close to The Wire imo. Quality from episode 1 all the way. Incredibly realistic and love how each season challenges problematic areas in American society. Truly is a masterpiece imo. They even teach The Wire at Havard on certain courses, sociology etc.
Whatever the series one thing is sure. If the first series is a big hit, they will then beat the ****ing thing to death with series 2,3,4,5, etc...ad infinitum until everybody is sick to **** of it...
I watched a few seasons of Vikings, each to their own like but it's nowhere near the level of GOT quite an average show imo I even stopped watching at the point where all the kids grew up. It was boring.
You seen all the geeks walking around with dragon's and **** on their t-shirts? Grown men wearing GOT merchandise - bit embarrassing really. Then the fat ugly fantasy purple haired women with GOT **** covering them from head to toe
Was considering getting into GoT but considering I've yet to take the cellophane wrapping off the True Detective series I bought ages ago I can't see I'd ever have the time or inclination. It'll be one of those things I never see. If I ever get round to watching TD I will try the Wire though. It sounds like something I'd really get. I've not watched my Breaking Bad series yet either.
The only people that say Game of Thrones is **** are the people that haven't seen it. I saw the leak yesterday. Comfortably the greatest hour of television and I didn't think I'd ever see anything come close to the last couple of seasons of Breaking Bad.
