Alexi Sale is a ****ing legend. The whole alternative comedy scene was really groundbreaking. I listened to an interview with Sale the other day on Radio 4 where he said that they all made a conscious effort to make comedy without racism and sexism which was the order of the day, with 'comedians' like Jim Davidson and Bernard Manning. His biggest achievement ? That the 'alternative' comedy scene is now considered mainstream.

For me, the problem with tv comedy nowadays is that they consciously go out of their way not to offend anybody. At all! Noble intentions and all that, but the end result is the vast majority of it's about as funny as having a root canal.
