Johnson is 33% of what the club wanted - not 50%. It's still low it's largely irrelevant as Shotton is a centre half, we have 3. We need a LB and a RB.
It's a rather sad indictment of our squad that centre half is one of our stronger areas on account of the fact we have a single backup in that position.
Keepers, midfielders (central) and centre halves we're ok for. Not overly well covered, but other areas of the pitch are far more urgent. Given how long we seem to take to sign players, it could be a long run to the end of the window.
The last week or two in the window always seems to be crazy, lot of chess tactics going one and we're waiting on the bigger clubs.
At £10m Niasse has to be a miles better option than Zohore who has had half a decent season. We had the option to buy Niasse for £10m if we stayed up.

The problem with Niasse isn't so much the fee, as the £55k a week he's on, we're not going to pay anyone that.
I understand wages now may be the problem, but I would be seriously asking for Robertson back, even until January. He's no where near the Liverpool team at the moment.
Well, let's get him on loan again and then that frees up some dosh for that Motherwell winger and a left back, or are we spuriously thinking Ehab has enough common sense to do that. Best wishes to unlucky Hernandez.
You've got to assume we'd be happy to pay 25k a week, so if you factor in an extra £30k a week that's an extra £1.5m per year l, so over a 3 year contract it's an extra £4.5m. It could be doable if he's £5m and £55k a week making a total outlay cheaper than Zamora, the difference is the latter will have a resale value.
