I was going to make a joke about insurance...but as a serious question do clubs insure players against injury? This talk of us taking the full hit of his wages whilst injured. Is this likely to be what happened ?
It still wouldn't stop big european clubs poaching and causing issues. And if that happens, it stops the English team from replacing said player. This is only likely to happen with the bigger sides so I doubt they will agree to vote in closing the window at the start of the season.
How many need to vote in favour of this change? Potentially a step closer to a breakaway. Or perhaps (this is naive) there will be something stopping the selling as well as the buying - or even something made clear to players and agents informally. The window is open long enough. I don't even understand why everyone waits so long. Surely clubs want new players to have pre season with their new team and system... Or does it come down to trying to save on player wages...
I know seasons start at different times in different countries but I think UEFA/FIFA need to agree on a closing date for transfer windows which is the same across Europe and as near to the start of each country's season as possible.
"British sirens for Wesley Hoedt. Southampton defender Lazio has strong Southampton who yesterday sent a biannual betting club an official offer of 17 million euros. The company of President Lotito has not yet accepted, but the one proposed by the Saints is the figure that Lazio had agreed to start market with the agent of the '94 class. Southampton tries us, Lazio thinks: an official offer of 17 million euros has been received for Hoedt." Not sure about he biannual betting club!
Aaah I love a good translation. Nothing makes sense but you guess Saints have bid 17m for him. It's good to hear the British Sirens.
Now Sigurdsson is off to Everton it looks like Swansea will be getting Stuart Armstrong in to replace him. I assume our interest ended when we signed Mario..?
Our kind of signing. He'll replace VD who will be sold then become crap and Hoedt will be the Dutch no1 central defender. Perfect
This system allows the younger centre backs to be covered and frees up the full backs - so also more helpful to someone like McQueen Loses any set piece taking ability. Issue is that there is no evidence we have ever practiced with this system. And the youth team doesn't play this style
