It's all well and good saying our starting 11 is pretty decent, but when you now have a potentially serious injury to one of our strikers and two in the squad (Clucas & Grosicki) who quite possibly want to move on, then 46 games in a physical league with 3 or 4 teams who really are taking getting up seriously, then our thin squad soon starts tearing at the seems. A clutch of players are needed to address our problems at full back, as well as some back up for the strikers, and added to that the injuries and persistent rumours of outgoings, then I don't think we can call ourselves ready. It's not a piss around. The fans who've stuck with it despite all the crap and bought into that dodgy membership scheme with their hard earned deserve more. Last minute desperation is not a good look, why we keep doing it I don't know. I don't think any sensible fan demands promotion or a certain position, but you should be able to demand a club that's actually prepared for 46 professional games with enough bloody players. It's one thing doing all the usual Allan crap which comes down to opinion, but when you are unprepared for the actual business you are in for the second year in a row then I think it displays chronic mismanagement and incompetence. And probably contempt for the position.
Bowen is still young and learning but the times their left full back got forward in space and Bowen was on the wrong side of him in fact at times I don't think he realised he was even behind him. Some of these young players should be brought in through out the season and be in the squad but its not fair on the player to be pushed in like they have because of lack of options and we all know who's fault that is.
We have a decent spine of a team that's actually not bad for the championship, McGregor Dawson Hector Clucas Meyler Larsson Abel Campbell Although we have very little depth, a couple of injuries or transfers and it becomes seriously weak. Our problem is at full back and on the wings, Bowen and Clark to me aren't ready, Aina looks promising but has a lot to learn, Grosicki can **** right off, he's a decent player but has a terrible attitude, if he never played for us again I would be quite happy.
As someone said last night.. Clucas has got one foot in Turf Moor. Was mostly anonymous to the point of was he actually playing. That said Wolves were decent outfit, but wait until the cold nights and the winter comes. Those Porto boys will go AWOL and they'll slide down the table like the Titanic on steroids.
I think there's more than a bit of confirmation bias going on here. Clucas was fine last night and certainly wasn't in the worst five players in our side.
Agree, only problem i have is Dawson goal apart at time looked very shaky don't know what it is with him maybe time is catching up with him but definitely not his usual self.
He shouldn't be playing til it's sorted one way or another. I can understand it from his part, when a club like Burnley shows an interest it must be hard not to set your heart on it, but they have to pay the price for him and as yet haven't committed to doing so.
Unless we spend the kind of money Wolves do, don't expect performances like they produced. That being said, I dont think there are many other clubs who have that kind of style and quality. If our business isn't done and we can get a few in of genuine quality then we stand a chance. I predicted a 2nd place finish, but I'd be just as happy with 9th and consolidation.
No disrespect, but are Burnley the new Lester?...They're a runt of a club in the middle of no where with a fan base of Welsh reject sheep-shaggers.
When a club like Burnley? Do you mean that tiny club The Villagers, as many of our fans refer to them in a derogatory fashion?
Better run club with a more impressive history than we have, and not wishing to upset a certain poster, if as big a proportion of the population of Hull supported City we would be getting the best part of70,000 crowds. Nearer to Leeds than Hull is, nearer to Manchester and Liverpool, but you don't see loads of sad twats parading around Burnley in the shirts of those clubs like you do in Hull. Proper football town.
Wolves' starting XI used so far cost an estimated £23.5m Their opponents' XIs... Boro - £56.5m Derby - £21.5m Hull - £28m
Was going to make this point, didn't know the specific numbers. Hernandez, Grosicki, Dawson, McGregor, Henriksen and Clucas weren't cheap.
Seen people in LFC or MUFC shirts in Burnley village centre. Seen loads of kids in Arsenal or CFC shirts in Hudders. Boro fans moaning about local LFC fans in the home sections at the RIverside. Face it, it's a national problem. Just wait till RL finally reaches Burnley....
They capped their wages at £500k a year, but agreed a bonus of up to £200k each if they got promoted, a decent incentive.
That's simply not true, there's no town/city in England that doesn't have fans of Arsenal, Chelsea, Man United, Liverpool etc, it happens absolutely everywhere. The degree to which it happens may vary, but it definitely happens everywhere, I rarely go to a town/city without seeing at least one kid in a Barcelona shirt ffs.
