It went through 5 sets of votes Comm and came out best. It's an awesome goal. Nick it one way, move the other. No blatting it hard and hoping, just an incredibly spontaneous, in the spur of the moment, touch of genius. Would have graced a World Cup Final. Got my vote. Against the mags as well. Just a bonus.
Comparing Merc's with Wensleydale cheese though isn't it. Goals come in a thousand ways. How the hell do you compare them in the moment, or even afterwards? In terms of art, Bergkamp's goal was Da Vinci. The rest are Damien Hirst.
Stunning goal the like of which i have never seen before or since. Volley's look great etc but this goal was pure genius and totally off the cuff. Having said that, it's all down to opinions and there have been some fantastic goals over the years.
His goal for Arsenal against Leicester in '97 was just as good. He then produced a similar wonder goal for Holland against the Argies in the '98 World Cup the following summer. Fantastic 3-touch finishing.
Sacked You will regret that in the morning. No scrambled eggs and salmon. Bloke deserves a pay rise ya ****ing Victor Meldrew.
I'm not running a ****ing charity here! I'll catch my own salmon, smoke it, and include in my breakfast tomorrow morning before you've finished your beauty sleep!
Turns out the the one against Leicester was for his hatrick: The one against the Argies's was an 89th minute winner to get to the semi's:
Great goal hard to disagree. Van Persie's volley was more jaw dropping imo, as with Bergkamps I had to see it in slow motion to really appreciate it. Tekkers of the highest order.
