There's been a few unSpursy negotiations in recent years: Eriksen was sorted so fast Danny Rose didn't even have the time to Google him, while Son was completely under the radar and went from rumour to a cringy hashtag literally overnight.
Perhaps due to the fact we only have 2 of the famous 7 we signed after the Bale sale, the club has gone back to being cautious again.
10%, apparently. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/tottenham-hotspur-in-line-for-gylfi-sigurdsson-cash-p8pmh03x0 Paywall, but you can still read the relevant bit.
On the bbc website about this it states that we will get 10% of this deal. That's more money for us not to spend!
Reports at the time suggested that Swansea were holding out for a round £50m and that the clubs were "no more than £5m apart in their negotiations". Well, we now know the reason why they were £5m apart...it was in a sealed brown envelope marked 'FAO Daniel Levy"
We get to give it back to Everton, if we sign Barkley. I wonder if we've got one on Chadli, so that Swansea can give us some more cash? Then West Brom can use the money that goes from that to buy Sissoko.
My personal preference is for Rose to stay this season, buy Sessegnon now (£25m is an eye-watering bid for a player with half a season of Championship football under his belt and one that I don't think Fulham will turn down), loan him back for a season and sell Rose next summer. I don't think Ryan is ready for the PL yet, nor do I think the Spurs fanbase is sufficiently riled up by Rose's comments to accept us strengthening a second rival in one window. Snake or not, Poch and Levy will face an uprising if they sell him to United or Chelsea. I for one would be absolutely fuming and I'd worry that Spurcat would actually make an attempt on Levy's life Rose himself said that his immediate focus is getting fit and rediscovering his form of last season. He is better off doing that here, getting his head down and showing that he meant his apology, and then leaving next year with some respect and dignity still intact. This, to me, is an ideal situation. Which means it'll never, ever happen.
Agree although I think he's a player who needs to be playing every week. Being a squad player and in/out the side doesn't suit him. His goal against Hull was pure quality.
We'd have been stupid not too. I was a massive fan of his and never wanted him to go, I don't think Poch really did either but understood his need for regular first team football, a player like him in this market fetches upwards of £25m, would've been more had he not got injured at WBA. Showed his class by not celebrating against us, too. Will always have my respect and really hope he goes on to have a great career.
"Worked for CNN, Base Soccer, The Sun, The Mail, IPC Media, Nuts Magazine and Frank PR. Worked at football agency with predominately Arsenal and Spurs players." That's according to his Twitter page, which isn't official. So a random bloke on the internet, basically.
Lol, in fairness he's actually pretty accurate with most of the stuff he reports. Of all the journalists I follow (who most I take with a massiv pinch of salt) he's one of the more trustworthy.
