He's probably just been offered double the wage, if we don't want him submitting a transfer request, improved terms is a sensible move. In fact, far more sensible than we normally are.

£20m is a bit of a different starting point to £1m. It didn't upset me at all, it's just taking the piss. If Oxford have to now sell the player as he's handed in a transfer request - I'd be as much of a **** as we were with our low offer and sell him to anyone but us. The game with all the money swilling around that we have benefitted from by spending reasonable chunks of time in the PL, we take the piss with an offer that is a third of what the chairman valued the player at. Its not confusing at all. We normally wait for a player to get pissed off and make up their mind to leave a la Huddlestone in the summer. If we have offered him a new deal then it shows we're learning.
