Does it matter where you come from, I've been called a glory hunter on numerous occasions, I didn't want to derail my Chelsea meltdown thread, I support Manchester United because of the football that we play, It's got nothing to do with size of the club etc.
Doesn't necessarily matter where you come from but if you are not a local fan, have no family or other connection with the club, don't go to games and happen to pick the most successful club to support, expect to be called plastic or a glory hunter.
The main choice of which football club to support has a couple of basic themes. The most obvious, and oldest, is you support the club that is in your parish. Which gives you a strong sentimental link to the club. Following your kin is another. Your dad supports club X etc. Ethnic/nationalistic links are another. Lots of Irish people support the Poool because of the strong historical migrant links between the country and city. Similarly there is support in N Ireland for Man Utd that goes back to the pride in / success of George Best.
Support who you want Matth, without having to answer to anybody, haters always gon' hate. It's not a competition, it's just a sport. I wonder how I'd go about picking an NFL team to support given that none of my family are into it and I don't live near any of the teams.
True. I suspect Matths was akin to looking at the league table one May and deciding he liked the playing style of United - who just happened to be top. 10 years older and he'd be a Liverpool fan. Fahkt!
I think the team you support should be a combination of the following; Where you live Where you're from Who your family supports Where you were born Your first live game The team you see most weekends The team you would support no matter. If you support a team for any of the following reasons (minus the reasons given above), you're a plastic; It's the "cool" team to support They always win things They're always on Tele You fancy Paul Pogba You like the ground (even though you've never been)
I usually go curry sauce with chips from the chippy. I'm not really a gravy man, unless I'm in Bournemouth or having a roast dinner.
