Its a **** idea driven by the panic of the biggest names clearing off to Spain and China.
    .
All it means is that foreign teams could still tempt a player till the worldwide window closes but the selling club cant replace what they lose. Think the bin dippers and Coutinio. If Coutinno forces a move now they can try to replace. Under the new rules the player could offski and leave them high and dry.

The Gowing Law Centenary Pavilion will open its doors at 5pm ahead of our clash with Fulham with variety of activities going ahead in the build up to kick-off.

Inside the Leeds United Fan Village there are four individually themed indoor ‘beer garden’ style stations:

Get there early though, as there will only be 5 people serving drinks.

If the club get offered silly money they should take it. If the club ask him to stay for another season his value will be less next season with just a year to run. He isnt Messi. I would snap anyones hand off at £17m.

If he stays and repeats last seasons performance he will be the real deal. No striker in the championship has repeated 20+ goals in consecutive seasons. That would be Premier League class and be a high valuation.

Wood has his mum living with him so a grounded kid not a money magnet or high profile clubber

I would go so far as to say Burnley are missing a trick, they should sign Lassoga as he has the same style of play, the same strike rate as Wood but does it regular in a higher league. Who says Wood can do that?

I've come to the same conclusion.

A new contract will have been put on the table and as it's not been signed it probably means his agent is advising him to hold off. That's good advice as there will be a shift in power next summer towards the player once he enters the final year of his deal.

Wood's stock is likely to be at an all time high...if he does have another great season his value will not increase due to the contract situation.

My personal valuation would be 20m plus a few add ons as they seem to be in vogue these days.

Let's take the money and move on, especially as on this day 12 months ago we would not have recouped the 3m we paid for him.

All our good players leave eventually.

Chippy is right, we are what we are because of where we are. Better to wise up and start extracting maximum value for our players rather than letting contracts run down and receive lesser amounts. The main difference is we now have an owner who look like he wants to re-invest those transfer funds rather than milk the club for all they were worth.

Now seems that Brighton have offered £15m for Woody, begining to look like the money will be too good to turn down before long

I would tell Woody,if we don't go up you can leave next summer, and put a 1million loyalty clause on it,so he's just as well of by staying,no bottom half prem team would interest him then.

That's a fair idea and similar to what Eire was suggesting yesterday.

Sign a new contract with a buy out clause which can be activated next summer for 20m. Your idea of a loyalty bonus would guarantee he was fully committed this season knowing he's not financially missing out.

It's probably worth a try but the player (Wood) is still risking missing out on a 4 year deal on PL wages if no one meets the valuation.
