Reporter on Sky says that she asked about whether this affected the position of VVD and was told by a senior person at Saints that they have never intended to sell Virgil and therefore this partnership will have no effect.
So if Lander are worth more but we have been bought by the Gao family themselves, is that a good or bad thing?
I hope the increased financial security means we'd be able to be in a slightly better negotiating position with potential deals rather than wholesale splashing of the cash. It would be nice to get someone like Hoedt and Vietto over the line to show that we mean business and to mix things up slightly. The more I read about MoPel, the more I like, just felt slightly flat on Saturday making the same starting 11 as Puel did on many occasions. Growing up a Saints fan, I got used to the perennial struggle and snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, then when things looked bleak, the placid billionaire with a killer smile arrived and rescued us. It's been an amazing ride for the last 9 years, we've got to trust Kat has done her own due diligence on her asset as well as what is needed for the club. Up the Saints, we march on....
I have a very very bad feeling about this! I wonder what the consensus of opinion is from the general fans? Could a clever chap create a poll? Would like to know if most are in agreement with this buy - out or have reservations like myself.
Agree the result is disappointing, but if you agree that the way we played looks better and more positive, then you could argue that in achieving this with exactly the same players as Puel is a very clear manifestation of MP2's quality. More so than if the improvements were a consequence of an influx of new players. And i'm in the camp of 'prefer to be owned by the family than the company' What's the daughter look like? ;-)
I don't think im alone in saying i am mildly sceptical about this one but think we have to trust in Kat, ultimately, she has taken us this far so we have no reason to doubt her actions.
Totally agree... it was a much better performance but still see it as 2 points dropped; would be annoyed abd a little worried if we only had 1/2 points at 5pm this Saturday....
I find the emphasis on a "family take over" rather than a conglomerate, interesting, I can understand why people are suspicious, maybe judging by their own standards? We still have 20% of Kat Liebherr, she may think it is the other way around though. I hope it is sustainable, we should be able to stand on our own feet for a while anyway, thanks to how the Club has been funded and geared to be financially sound. We need good results more than ever to keep the interest improving.
I just can't see the first thing Mr Gao doing would be to undermine the message of the previous (and still current) regime by selling VVD. Looks like we're keeping him for the time being. Now, your move Virgil.
A bit of a turn up...........that came from nowhere............not surprised in a way. Time will tell I suppose......we just have to think positive.........
There are plenty of preconceived ideas around the motivations of the Chinese. I hope that we get to hear from the Gao family in the coming weeks and get to know them a little better as supporters.
