I read another article saying we are in for both him and wimmer. I can't see how this can be the case unless - both VVD and Gardos are being shipped out - and/or we are moving to 3 at the back I don't think it is the latter. It might explain the lack of contract offer for yoshida though ...
Yes, so would I to be honest and I'm also a big fan of Joe Allen but that could just be my rose-tinted specs from the Euros last year...
I always thought Joe Allen was a very capable and combative player who can link defence with attack, in the Steven Davis mould. But we already have Steven Davis, not to mention JWP, and Hojberg.
I really hope Yoshida gets a new contract. The guy has been a model pro, and no doubt we have gained a few Japanese fans, because of him playing for us
I wouldn't be surprised if we wanted to offer Maya another years extension, but he may want to see where he fits in if other CBs come in (and he has said as much).
No idea who this John Harriott fella is, and whether or not he's reliable, but 'for the record' in case there's any truth in it... John Harriott @JHFootballAgent Southampton are looking at Gremio wonder kid Luan #saintsfc ---------------------------------------------------------------------------http://www.goal.com/brasilglobaltour...-brazilian-gem Sounds like the sort of player we usually go for.... relatively unknown, had a few set-backs, lots of promise, etc... He could be just what we're looking for: Designed to break down defensive sides who set out only to spoil, he was introduced to float around the front three, offering better angles for the quick passing exchanges and join a previously fragmented midfield to the front line. "He is like a bridge, connecting two pieces together," said the great Tostao. Scolari labelled Luan a “game-changer” - and that’s exactly what he is. Luan doesn’t win games, he changes them, enabling others to do so. He has that rare ability to make everyone else better. It took a while, but Brazil has caught on. Luan is now widely regarded as arguably the league’s best player. Tostao went on to insist: "Luan is among the top five Brazilian players today." And Tite is now on board, too, last week adding Luan to his Brazil squad for World Cup qualifying. So if your club doesn’t try to sign Luan this transfer window, it’s likely because they just weren’t looking hard enough. They wouldn’t be the first. From Saints web
Apparently we have been €17m for Hoedt. With the telegraph claiming we are also after an attacking midfielder, I'd be happy with: Bednarak - £5m Lemina - £18m Hoedt - £15m Attacking mid - ?? Keep the rest of the squad (VVD) together and id say that is looking pretty strong.
Looking increasingly likely that Shane long is off. I wonder if Gallagher moved to third choice as we only play one striker or if we are planning on getting another striker in. Would be a tough sell for a new recruit and tough on existing strikers unless we move to playing two strikers. Alternatively someone who is a wide player that can fill in up front would be ideal. Better use of a squad space
Please can we outbid Everton for Sigurdsson. Come on Gao, make it happen. Oh, and put in a cheeky 100mill offer in for Coutinho.
I think we would be slightly light up top if Long were to go aswell, but if we signed an attacking mid with a history of getting 5-10 goals a season then I wouldn't be too fussed. Think Yoshida's days are up after this season so another centre back (like Hoedt) would be ideal. If those get done and then IF VVD goes then ideally I'd like the money to be spent on whoever is top of our blackbox wishlist, regardless of position really as everyone in our side could be upgraded especially if we have the money floating about.
